I am a sweeper.

I have figured out that is what is wrong with my Iron play and why my scores have not come down the last few rounds, I was trying to strike the ball, in a classic Iron play shot manner, I am not a striker however. I am a sweeper, once I figured that out I grabbed my Wilson Holowbacks and put them back in the bag, they are suited to my swing and next time I go I will be looking to break 90, not 100.

I found that I'm a sweeper too.

The new Callaway irons I acquired about a month or so ago don't like being swept, they like hitting down on the ball.

Once I figured that out, I've been doing a lot better with them... I've retrained myself to hit down on the ball more, though now that has screwed up my fairway wood play somewhat. As it was, I was about to sell them and buy something different, but thankfully I was able to work out the kinks without resorting to changing up my bag once again.

The thing I like about the Hawk Eyes is that I can actually hit the 3i and 4i... with my old TM Supersteel irons I could only hit down to the 5i, so I had rescue clubs for the other two irons.

Let us know how you do.

Well I get to cheat

I have 2 sets of Irons that are as different as you can get in the style of play they are suited to. My Wilsons are all hybrid style clubs and the Tour Edges are standard Players cavity clubs. When I tried to work on my Iron swing to strike down on the ball my Wilsons took a hike out the back door and I couldn't hit them at all. The TE's are strike down style clubs and I could never get any distance out of those no matter how much I worked on it, so the Wilsons are back.

I started doing this the last 2 rounds, and have a tendancy of doing this at some point during the year. Actually it is more just to shallow a swing for me. I Usually pick up on it when my shots out of the rough have a problem making it out of the rough with any kind of distance from getting caught up, and my draw turns into a low hooks. That and the fact that I go from shooting an 85 to a 108 within a span of a couple weeks.

I guess I will be videotaping my swing this week.

I like to be able to be both a sweeper and a striker. Meaning I tend to sweep with fairway woods and long irons and hit down with everythign else. That way I can hit nice high long wedge shots and such that shot fast. It;s just kind of how I learned to play i guess.
