When am I going to learn?

to play back into the fairway? Grrrrrrrr.

A couple of drives yesterday were just a couple of yards from being perfect, then they got a bad bounce and ended up in the trees. Instead of pitching the ball back into the fairway where I would have a chance of a up & down, I always go for the green.

Then my ball hits a tree and either is lost or goes backwards. Two triple bogies.

Crap.

Hey when you figure it out let me know, no matter what ball I try playing they have tree magnets in them. Then that combined with my bigger hammer mentality leads to disaster every time. I am willing to undergo anything up to shock therapy.

If you are really willing to try - leave the driver and fairway woods at home. Play the Par 4's as Par 5's. PLAY EVERY PAR 4 HOLE AS A PAR 5.

It's hard to do. Your gut will tell you you're being a wuss. Let your brain tell you you're more in control of your game.

On a 400 yard hole, hit 170 off the tee. Second shot of 150 yards leaves you a 70 yard pitch. I bet you hit that pitch shot on the green a high percentage of the time. Think of it - a 170 yard shot, a 150 yard shot, and a 70 yard shot - and you are putting for a 4 - which, if you are playing the hole as a Par 5, is a birdie putt.

See what happens. If you don't like it, don't do it again.

Today I drove the best I have ever done: went back to my 983K.
Even hit my hybrids well. Almost drove a par 5. Didn't have a short game. Oh well.

Played all my par 4's as 5's today and that worked out fine, unfortunately #1 is a par 5 and I got an 12 totally screwed my whole round. #10 was not as bad also a par 5 and I got a 9. Other than those 2 holes I played the best I have to date, 6 doubles, 8 bogeys, 2 pars.
#1 hole killed me in the sand, 4 shots to get out.

Oh, that sucks about the bunker. Did you feel like you were in the Hell bunker at St. Andrews?

I actually drove so well today that I'm thinking about moving back a tee to the blues. I had several holes where I was just a half wedge out, and that's what I couldn't hit today!

Damn game. I'm surprised more golfers aren't institutionalized.

We would be, but we're too stubborn to waste valuable time in an institute instead of at the links.

There was no good reason until the 4th sand shot where I had put myself up against the lip, then I hit out fine, that all started with a skulled chip. On my third shot I hit 9 iron to just outside of the bunker on the right. So I walk up thinking up and down, skreecher of into the bushes on the farside. Now I have to carry the other side bunker coming back, hit it to hard and rolled into the first bunker, the 4 shots to get out and I landed on the first cut, chipped in and past, 2 putts. One complete freaking disaster.

That is also a tie for my best score to date, but over all I played better than the last time I got a 103, had 36 putts today and thats not great but just fine, minus those 2 bad holes I would have broke 100.
