A Tale of Two 80's

My last two rounds have been at Waskesiu Golf Course. It’s a beautiful course set in the boreal forest of Prince Albert National Park. I shot back-to-back 80’s, which were my best scores of the season so far. Now, you might think I’d be happy with that. Well, yes and no.

The first round, I finished up with a birdie on the 18th hole. That was satisfying.

The second round, I finished up with a double-bogey on the 18th hole. That was not satisfying.

Funny how things can change your perspective of a golf round.

I hear you there. I went par, bogie, double on first 3 holes. After the double I questioned why the heck I bothered coming out to play. Got it back together to shoot my best round ever though. I have a bad habit of adding up that score and letting it get to me. I find the best thing is to just feel out what I am capable of for that day and stick to it. After the double I started playing conservative, taking irons and FW woods off the tee. Then on the back the 11th and 12th I can bomb driver without it hurting much to be offline. Those 2 shots determine how I will play the back. Just keep grinding those pars out and take each hole and shot as it comes I guess. Not sure what you are playing to, but back to back 80's would be 2 very good rounds for me.
