Coming in too steep

I think I have figured out one of my problems with my driver and fairway woods. I am coming in to steep instead of sweeping the ball. I think I need to flatten out my swing a bit. Would appreciate any drills or ideas.

Thanks,

Robert

For a fairway wood I try to brush the sole straight back along the deck until the club is outside my right foot. This seams to promote a smooth line.

I carry that into the driver although it's modified slightly to account for the ball being on a tee.

Very much a hack here so take any advice with a pinch BIG R.

Same advice as Brocks I was intsructed that on the backswing to focus on moving the club back along the ground as far as suggested by brocks, it should create better forward contact with the ball.

See if you can find a sidehill lie where the ball is well above your feet. Keep the ball forward in your stance, so that you have to "chase it" a little. Choke up on the club a bit. Hitting from this type of lie will force you to work the club more around your body. Too steep and you'll just strike the ground before the ball.

Next time you go to the range, find a spot as far away from everyone else as you can. Put the balls up on about a 2 1/2 to 3inch tee and hit them off with a 6iron. It sounds ridiculous but to have any chance of contact you will need a much flatter swing.
