Shot of the Day

Figured I'd start this thread so we can feel good about at least getting one shot right. My dad and I always pick a "shot of the day" when we play together. This evening I had it.

I had a pretty well blind shot with some tree branches on the left, up over a hill and back down to the green. There are no yardage markers but even worse I couldn't see the green from where I was. I went up and picked a tree to aim for, went back down and pulled out a 7iron. I hit a slightly drawing shot that was just right at the stick. My ball was inside 6ft. and my pitchmark was about 2ft. right of the hole.

Well my round tonight was a par 3 course cause its all i had time for, but i sank a 25 hard breaking putt, i went to just work on putting, by just counting putts for the 18 holes, and i had 21 putts. Not bad if i do say so myself.

# 11, uphill par 5. Hit a drive right, wind aided and a tad blocked. I had 8 100 foot poplar trees in my line. I grabbed a 5 wood and hit a high cut with about 20 yards of turn to about 6 feet. Made the putt for eagle.

My shot of the day was piss poor by results, but I still was digging it. Found a basically new Sxrion ball and hit it off the next tee, I now have to go buy some of those balls. Thing was a full on rocket, I pulled it left, but that was my fault, not a hook a straight pull 340 yards and slightly uphill.

The shot of the round was made by my brother in law, he hit into the next fairway and I went over with him to help, he had a good lie and could see the hole, he was to close to hit his 9 iron so I let him hit my 588 PW, bang to 8 feet, and my Mother in law 2 putted from there. Should have given him my 4 iron instead. They ended up tieing the match thanks to his shot, we could have won, all I had to do was hand him the 4, but he hit it perfect.

162 yd par 3 with the pin tucked left. All sorts of trouble right of the green and a tree infested valley front. It was open left of the green so I decided to hit a slightly cut 7 iron - knocked it stiff - 2 feet. :miz:

Ball perched in a crappy lie on the lip of a bunker. About 10 yards over the bunker to a pin tucked five feet from the near edge. Terrible stance, with one foot in the bunker. Choked down and opened up a SW and popped it straight up. Landed in the fringe and rolled to six inches. Perfectly planned and perfectly executed. Which, if you've ever seen my short game you would know is a very, very, very rare thing.

Davebud - which Srixon was it? I found an AD-333 and thought it was a pretty good ball. I've been hearing great things about the Z-URS, but haven't tried it yet.

Single malts are expensive. I can't driver ho and drink pricey at the same time.

Pulled off a shot I typically cannot. The punch fade. I had 120 or so with a tree blocking the green and an overhanging branch blocking any shot towards the green. I punched a low fade to about 15 feet.

Davebud - which Srixon was it? I found an AD-333 and thought it was a pretty good ball. I've been hearing great things about the Z-URS, but haven't tried it yet.

It was the same thing the AD-333, thing just launched off the face of the club. Might have to try a couple of their balls though, if Jimmy can play them on the tour maybe I should be giving them some consideration. Yeah I am a Jim Furyk fan.

I was having a horrible day. Pulled my tee shot (220 yd par 3) way left into the woods. I was about 50 yards away. Couldn't hit it up being under the trees but had a chance between some tree trunks to the green. Punched my 3-iron onto the green and saved par. Last week hit that same shot 100 yards from under trees to 1 foot of the pin. It's saving me alot of strokes this year.

On a day where the greens at this 135slope course were driving me nuts it sure felt good to chip one in for a birdie. This was on the Par 5 10th, a solid 20footer breaking R-L downhill. It was a smooth one too, dropping in on the last revolution as quiet as a mouse. I dropped the ball back in the spot after to take a pic specifically for this thread. I guess the sad part is, even with a 0 in the putts category for this hole, I still ended up with 34.
