Best round in a month

Judging from this scorecard, you wouldn't think I played that well, only shooting a 46. But I was in the middle of every fairway, and long..........and the putter was working. Everything in between was so, so..........LOL. The 8 and the 7 killed me. Sure was fun, though.

if you were long and straight in every fairway and could putt then howd you manage to shoot that? especially manage 2 triples.

Oh, believe me............I can find a way to screw up anything. Wasn't going well with the irons, aiming-wise anyway. Got behind trees on one hole........tried to go over, hit a wedge just perfect, and just nipped the top branch........and guess where I ended up. Behind another tree. Similar problem on the other hole.

Have you ever played golf? Shoot, one tournament I held par through the whole round but one hole, which I tripled.

As far as the score, looks like solid bogey golf for the most part.

oh in my junior invitational i shot 40 on the front and back with a triple on each. i was +6 on those two and +2 on the other 16. thankfully it was a weak feild and my buddy whos a 5 choked and shot like 82, so i still won with the 80 which was lucky.

And playing only one or two times a week, that's all I'll ever do..........bogey golf. And that's just fine with me. I used to play every day in my wild crazy younger days, and I was a 5 handicapper.

Oh I wasn't saying it as a bad thing. I know lots of people who wish they could pull off bogey golf, it shows a certain level of performance and course management that is to be respected. If you break 90 once, legitimately, you have scored better than 80% of golfers out there(I read it in Golf Magazine once a little while ago).

2 things Bogey golf is my current target, and that is a short course. I looked at the yardages, and the course I normally play is only 10 yards shorter from the whites than that course is from the blacks, our golds are as long as the whites there. I need to find a course like that, Driver, wedge all the way, might improve my scores.

No problem, Jeff........I didn't take it that way...........just was saying I can live with bogey golf playing limited amounts. Maybe I can afford to retire one of these days, then if my body doesn't completely fall apart, I can play every day once again.........LOL. Like they say, " a bad day of golf is always better than a good day at work".

But you don't work now sssmokin! You're employed by the Post Office.

R35 commented on how short the other Waushara course was. All the courses down in the southeastern Wisconsin corner are that same length. It appears there is some "length" differences of golf courses in different parts of the world. Maybe we have shorter courses to compensate for the "denser" air? Or you have longer courses to compensate for the "high altitude" which we all know lets the ball carry farther. Hey! Maybe that's why you guys hit the ball farther then we do? We might have stumbled on to something here...... An EXCUSE!!!

Nothing like a good excuse during a bad round.

Shorter does not always mean easier. Judging form the layout on the card it looks like if driver is the choice you'd better be able to hit a 20yd. fade on one hole and turn around and hit a 25yd. draw on the next. I got screwed on the 9th yesterday. I used to be able to basically swing all out and hit a big 20yd. fade. This time I double-crossed and hit it dead straight. Fortunately it hit a tree and bounce right instead of OB.

Finally someone noticed that. You can make a course tough without just making it longer!! Wished the old Pete Dye/Jack Nicklaus "Briar Patch" was still like it used to be. Now there was a short course that could bring you to your knees. Matter of fact, most of Pete Dye's courses can do that!!

Um...Pete Dye designed Paako Ridge and it can be very very long from the back tees. The course is beautiful and can be difficult, but not the worst one I have played.

I do really like Pete Dye and Ken Dye as designers though.

Never said Pete Dye normally designed short courses, just nasty ones.
