Did you ever have one of those days?

Where everything went RIGHT!!!

I played a course I don't really like that much. It's kind of marshy and (like today) your drives sometimes plug and besides that they aerated the greens. But I took a half day off to play 18 holes and this course was pretty uncrowded today. (South Hills by Milwaukee).

Well, it took a few holes to quit overswinging my driver (sliced a few but playable) and then really started pounding 'em out nice. And was even hitting some nice iron shots into the greens. The drives were actually rolling some. Balls were covered with mud though after every drive.

One 150 iron shot I caught thin and the dang thing ran and ran and finally rolled on to the green. It was my day I guess. One par three I thought I had another ace on (about four feet away) but still got the bird. I was able to beat the aerated greens by getting my iron or chip shots right up to the pin. Any putt over six feet was impossible since the ball bounced around to much to hold a line (going over all those punched holes).

I even hit a 3-iron on to the green!! That rarely happens unless it's a punch shot from under a tree. Nice and high and felt really good. Got a 79!! Second time I've broken 80 this year and second time in my LIFE!!

I'm afraid this weekend is about the end of my golfing in Wisconsin but I plan on doing another 18 tomorrow.

Yeah those days kick ass. I had one a few weeks ago when I made everything and played pretty good golf. I finished with 8 pars and a birdie. I ended up with a 35. I birdied the first two holes on the back, but had to call it quits because of darkness.

Well, never had a day when "everything" went right. I have some rounds where I am striking so well I feel I can hit any shot. I usually have enough mistakes to put me over 80 though. Congratulations. This post has me wanting to get out there tomorrow for sure.

Congrats, WBL. The best I've ever done is an 81.

But the way I golf the next time out could be 100!!! When I said "everything goes right" I didn't mean I hit all good shots (never do that) I meant the bad ones turned out good. Hit thin and dumb ball rolls on the green. Stuff like that. I was feeling pretty "****y" about my game this whole summer until the month of September. Man, did I suck. Seems like a golf God turns a switch (goodtoday or badtoday) and I have no control over how I play.

Went out for nine today on the same course (Rivermoor CC in Waterford WI) where I got the ace. I didn't do too bad but no luck with me like yesterday. Had a double on a par 5 (got under the trees in the narrow fairway) and a TRIPLE on my ace hole! It paid me back and then some. I hit a nice looking shot right at the pin but I needed one more club for the wind in my face and it went into the water in front. Stroke to come out and next shot landed by the pin and took a sharp right off the green. I don't understand what happened on that. Next chip went long (aerated greens again) and two putt for triple. Yikes! Then I got back in groove again. So I had a 6 and a 7 in that 9 holes and ended up with 46. Thank God for the bird on a par 4. Fun day.

Yes, it was a 64(with Pings). There, I SAID IT!

Anyway, that round was funny because I played very aggresive and since it was all on, it just turned out great.

As for you Warbird, toss it in your sig, few people ever legitimately break 80.

Good idea. Might be deceptive though. Maybe I should put low round 79, high round 102 or something like that, LOL.

Mine would say high round 119, my very first tournament at 5 months playing. I played with a scratch handicapper...I was sooooooooo intimidated. Great for the head, in the long run though. I grew up a lot in that tournament, had to. Went on to shoot 98 in my next one with some more scratch golfers.

I know exactly what you mean. Great job on the 79. My best was an 80, and the 80's are rare. I know that 79 was a "fist-pumper".

Well done. Well done!

Saturday (my nine hole 46) I was playing through three 10 year old boys and they watched me hit my iron on a 200+ yard par 3. I hit the darn thing really nice, super high and right at the pin and all three of them went "WOOOOOOOW"!!! I felt like Tiger Woods! Even though I needed one more club for the wind in my face and it went in the trap on the right/front of the green. Chip and two putts for a bogey but I'm still hearing those kids. One of my summer highlights!! If you can't dazzle the adults dazzle the kids.....

Nice, and a 46 isn't bad either.

It's always an ego boosted for people to be amazed at your game.
