Feel like you're close?

I have the feeling wth my golf game now where I'm real close to pulling a 70/71 out of the bag. I just know it. I've been practising my chipping and pitching for a few weeks now and it has really come around to the point where my iron game, generally my forte, is under less pressure. Unfortunately I haven't been devoting the time on the range to my irons and I'm after getting sloppy with them. Does anyone know what I'm talking about here or am I in the minority of one?

I feel that way on the ride to the course every time. Usually goes away by the 2nd or 3rd hole though. I am capable, I've birdied almost every hole at one time or another and parred every one. It's just making those shots all in one round. Last week a had an 80 with 3 birdies and I'm starting to get agressive again. I went a long stretch with playing it safe, course management. I'm ready to start taking my chances on the holes I know I can. I think next season I will realistically have a shot at going par for a round. I'll need to really hit the range over the winter and also work on the wedges a bunch.

Definately. And really, the difference between 78 and 72 is just some putting and maybe a green or two more.

Wait until you get it, then you'll start feeling like you're getting close to putting out some 60s, which is soooooooo hard.

all the time!

been working really hard lately on my game and it shows on the range, but for the most part it is yet to be tested on the course.

made some changes to my game to make me much more consistent, and to hopefully limit penalty shots and dumb mistakes. gone to the fade and have been practicing short game shots that would serve me better than some other extravagent flops etc that i don't need very often.

whether i really go low or not is all about the flatstick though, been working on it, but it still needs alot more work.

In the summer I play 6 days a week so i dont get very rusty. But as soon as school starts i dont get to play much. School 8-1:50..bus ride..work in the pro shop of my course 2:15-6. It's to dark to play now at 6:45. So i have to play 2 balls(9-hole course) reallllly quickly. However..with my handicap at something close to 6.9 I feel like im just starting to hit the ball the way i should. My short game has always been mint and that's how I score. Crappy drive, crappy approach, awesome wedge, kick in par. Now it starting to be more like decent drive, good approace, awesome chip/putt.

I had a 74(+4) today on aeroyfied & sanded greens. hopefully I can beat my personal best(+1) by the end of the season(Nov.12).
