Bifocals? Hell, no!

Since I wear distance glasses when I play golf, I can't see well up close unless I take them off. So when I pulled a ProV1 out of the bag yesterday and teed it up, I got a surprise. DING! A wierd sound with the driver, but it went straight about 240. Did it again on the next hole. DING!

Finally I looked at the ball. ProV1x. Big difference. My hat's off to anyone who can compress one of these rocks.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.

Sometimes I have to chuckle when helping a playing partner look for his ball. I will ask, "What were you hitting?"; and the answer will be Titleist, Nike, Maxfli, Precept, etc. If I find a Titleist, for example, and ask, "Was it a NXT?"; the answer is often, "I'm not sure, I just know it was a Titleist".

I am always amazed that some people don't realize (or care) that different balls of the same brand have different characteristics.

BTW, Doc, I have been fitted for bifocal contact lenses and they seem to work pretty well for the problem you described.

I love the x, but still prefer my Nikes.

So once my dad tees it up for me right? I'm thinking, how nice of him. I take this beautiful swing, really hit a solid one, except for one thing. He teed up a ball that turns to powder when you hit it. Ha...ha...ha.

I would love to do that to someone. Unfortunately, no one who knows me trusts me enough.

Yeah, that's what I get for trusting my own father.

I laugh when people tell me that "it doesn't matter what ball I play; I'm not good enough to exploit the differences." Inevitably they'll find a Noodle, or a Diamond Ice, or some other low-compression wonderball, and all of a sudden they won't play anything else.

I agree with you Doc, that ProV1x is a beast. When I find one of them, I just give it away. The ProV1 is a nice ball, although I can't compress that ball all that well either.
