My iron game is in the Crapper.

Yesterday I shot 106, hit 8 fairways, had 33 putts, 1 GIR (that I birdied). Last round was 105 with 9 fairways hit & 35 putts.

Probably ought to carry only Driver, PW & putter.

Sounds like someone needs work on their irons and chipping. Don't worry though, this time of year is about playing, not scoring

Get those hands ahead of the clubhead. We should play as a team. My irons have been so good I've been teeing off with 3iron about a millimeter off the ground. Everything else is crap. I can't even hit a 5W off the tee decently.

Well, I did have a couple uncharacteristic miscues on the 1st couple holes. For the most part though just shorter as I'm swinging much slower. I need time to get comfortable and build the speed back up. I've been striking the irons well for quite some time, it's more about the position at impact than anything. That's always been good. It's more the driver where the OTT starts killing me. I can adjust to an OTT iron shot and still hit it flush.

EZ has to be naturally athletic or he would be wild and not really maintain a decent handicap.

Well I can get wild. My cap in my signature is based on a bunch of mid to end of season rounds at an easy course I've been playing for years. I broke 80 (par 71) 4 times to knock it down there. Back to back 77's about 2 weeks before scoring was closed for the season.

I am pretty athletic, played basketball, baseball, soccer, tried a little tennis. You should see my dad, he thinks nothing of pulling an 8.5* driver off the deck and he's just like "What?" when I am just amazed at one of his 220yd. scortcher's.

If you turn up the volume on that stupid "progression" video there is nothing but solid thwacks, no matter how bad it looks I always get the club on the ball with good shaft angle at impact.

I guess I should say that I just flattened my swing. Good for driver, very bad with irons. My true game will come around & I'll be back down to 99 before long.

You crack me up. Yeah, flattening the swing out would require some adjustment to maintain the lie of the irons at impact I would think. Any trend to the poor shots? Thin, fat, left, right?

Mostly fat but thats an ongoing problem when I become "GOLFERMAN" - "190 yards to carry the water - no problem gimme a 6 iron & hold my beer."

Seriously thgough, just poor ball striking and a lot of thin/bladed shots.

Yeah, that can happen after a little time off. Just hit some short irons and get the hands ahead, take the divot after the ball. I'm sure you know the drill, it's a tough thing to do midround, we've all been there. If it's any consolation I was striking the ball great at the range till I got to around balls #247 to the end. I started $h@nking them.... OK time to go!!

i have always had a 1 plane swing( this is a flatter swing) and when i get upright, its nearly impossible for me to get off the tee, and it almost always takes a trip to the swing doctor to fix it.
