drill to stay on plane

I read an article that suggested using 2 torches taped together with lights on opposing ends being used in place of a club to help check whether youre on plane.

This was done by using the bottom of a long wall as the base of the plane. At address, the flash light is pointed to the edge (where wall and floor meet). Slowly making a swinging motion, the light should run along this edge throughout the swing. if the light hits the actual wall, the backswing is too flat, if it hits the floor then youre too steep

I found this helped me get a feel for my body and arms being in a position thats considered on plane and has helped my swing.

if you havent tried this, give it a go, it might help

Anyone know of other drills that would also be helpful?

One thing my coach showed me was stick a tee in the end of your grip and have it pointing at your golf ball about halfway up and halfway down your backswing/downswing.

I tried the torch thing but it kept setting off the smoke detectors in the house so I quit.

OOOOO I thought he meant an actual little hand torch! I was a little scared of using two taped together!

Thinking the same thing myself, I had visions of punishment for bad swing plane was lighting yourself on fire or 3rd degree burns. Now that would be incentive.

I believe it was Leadbetter that had a training aid doing this with laser pointers. I have since seen similar devices on the market to attach a laser pointer to the butt of the grip.
