Angry Did you ever have a range session...

where there was 1 club in your bag that you just could not hit?

Tonight I went to the range and I was kind of rushed since they were closing in 45 minutes. Got a bucket of 100 and started with my PW, planning to work my way up to the driver, as I usually do.

PW, 9i, 8i, 7i, 6i, no problem. Got to the 5i and the first 2 were fine, then SHIT!!!! 10 low slices in a row. Skipped to 4hybrid, 3hybrid, 4w, driver, no problem. Came back to the 5i and SHIT!!!!! Same friggin thing!!!

Ran out of balls and never did hit another decent shot with it. I swear I almost broke the damn thing over my knee.

WTF?

1st range session with my BRAND NEW V Steel 18º...couldn't hit it at all AND toed one bad enough to do some minor finish damage to the very tip of the toe.

Pissed me off so bad I'm about ready to just sell the thing.

yes.. i've had that problem b/f. but i noticed that once i make couple of bad shots, i get all eager and try to swing harder.

i usually have problem w/ my long irons; 3 or 4. one day i grabbed 3i thinking that it was 7i and had no problem hitting, but b/c of unusual trajectory and distance, i realized it was 3i and i started messing up. i kinda learn from that experience that most of it is in your head too.

I consider you guys pretty lucky. I have more than one club that I have issues with. When I start hitting bad bad shots, I confide in my trusty 6 iron and feel pretty good going home.

Ditto this for me except it is my 8 iron.

For some reason I can *never* hit the gap wedge that goes with my 3400s properly down at the range. I have no issues with it when I've used it on the course and it seems fine, but on the range I have just can never seem to get decent contact on it...

I'm still trying to come to terms with an early morning trip to the local range this week when it was still below freezing temperatures - seeing the hybrids going a good 30 yards shorter than normal was pretty hard to take. I wonder how I can replicate the ball bouncing 20yds up in the air when it hits the ground when ground isn't frozen???

I had this happen to me. Horrible practice session with my SW. Was hitting horrible shot after horrible shot. It took me a while but I did finaly notice the large bend in my shaft. Got that swapped out and was smooth sailing.

Of course now when ever I hit a bad shot I look at my shaft .

You should get your sticks MOI matched so they all feel just like your 8 iron then.

My entire set of irons is MOI matched from the 4 iron through the Lob Wedge. Best move I ever made. With my eyes closed, I can't you which one I am swinging.

Also, I have Driver, 3W, #2 hybrid, and #3 hybrid that are MOI matched to the irons but, I am not hitting those clubs at the moment. I like my 905R, my Nickent 4W, and 904F 7W just a little bit better.

Nonetheless, getting irons fitted is certainly a way to keep from having a "favorite" iron.

I have this problem every time I go to the range, driver is the club.

On an MOI note... I believe Miura must do something like this. I've noticed that they feel very similar through the set. The most amazing thing is the ballflight. I swear the 5 and 7iron have the exact same height. The longer irons fly higher and the short irons fly lower. These guys are good.
