Thread: Losing Weight.

  1. #1

    Losing Weight.

I really need to lose 3 stone.

I have a serious addiction to eating junk.

Today, for example, I had a double sausage & egg mcmuffin meal at McDonalds, followed by Thornton's Special Toffee and chocolate lollipop thing.

For lunch I had a footlong Subway meal. I don't eat any salad or peppers/olives, etc. with it which makes things worse. Had two packetss of crisps a short time after.

For tea I had a 9" pizza comprising of salami, pepperoni, chilli, garlic & extra cheese.

I would be happy eating out in fast food outlets three times a day. I am a disgrace.

I need to go on a diet; something like eating only cereal for breakfast and lunch, drinking loads water and have a relatively decent tea time meal. Either that or do one of those max calorie intake of 1500 calorie diets.

I really need to lose THREE stone. Seriously. Have gone up another trouser waist size.

    Help or suggestions please.

    Andy

  4. Lighten up on the garbage and get some exercise. Easy for me to say I guess. I eat a lot of crap food but not so many meals. Is this "tea time" a 4th meal? I pretty much eat a light breakfast like cereal, oatmeal, granola bar. Then whatever for lunch, epescially if I'm working, maybe a sandwich or a hot dog or 2. Then dinner I usually eat my largest meal, most of the time a large amount of meat. Steak and rice, Chicken and potatoes, sometimes go out for Chinese or other ethnic food. I eat way too much pizza though.

I have a fast metabolism and need to gain weight. I find that it's pretty basic, burn more calories than you take in and you'll lose it. Sit around all day and then eat huge, fat loaded meals and you'll just gain it.

My advice... replace one meal with nothing but pure protein and hardly any carbs. Then do a simple exercise routine. Maybe pushups and squats on alternating days. This should at least start building a little more muscle to fight off the fat gain.

My girlfriend keeps talking about losing weight. She makes way to big a deal of it, wanting to go buy a $50/mo. membership to a gym and some ridiculous $100/week meal plan system. I tell her you have to start small, a little change here and there until it becomes routine.

  6. i dont know what 3 stones amounts to but i am also trying to shed a bunch of weight.although i dont eat alot of junk food.my prob seems to lie in the fact that i got in the habit of not eating till i was straving.now i find out that is bad because it slows down metabolism.so now i eat a good breakfast (3 eggs and 4 slices of toast or a bowl of cereal) then around 10-11 i have a sandwich or a orange or apple.then about 3 hrs later do the same thing again then have a sensible supper about around 5 or 6.

but because i havent stareved myself i eat less then i would have 3 months ago.

i also workout every other day and ride bike for 30 min m-f.so far ive dropped 20 lbs.

i looked on the net and found that by riding for 30 min.i can burn 750 to 850 calories and on days i lift its about 1400-1500.the only thing with lifting is that muscle weighs more then fat so by adding muscle you may not seem to be losing as much as you actualy are.

i also only wiegh myself about once a week so im not dicouraged by the ups and downs of daily wieghing in.

This right here is weight loss in itself. A huge change of lifestyle is much, much more difficult. Just start small and work your way from there.

I went to eating salads. Before you jump down my throat with the purse and panties comments, I put a BBQ'd chicken breast or some bacon on it for the mental stability. I can tell you right now that a huge ass salad with some chicken breast on it goes a long way.

Start small, but be aware. You don't have to stop eating crap, you just have to be aware that eating it all the time is not the way to be healthy.

I'm down 8lbs since December. And I haven't even started playing golf yet.

Good luck with the quitting. You will do this. the cravings will diminish. You will win.
