SPYWARE is pissing me off

I'm sick and tired of spyware. After using my computer for an hour I run three spyware programs and get rid of it but in an hour I've got more. NO, I'm not going in porn sites, I'm in here most of the time. Where it's coming from is Yahoo, Google and Golf Club manufacturers sites etc. I did a test, going in these sites and then running spyware. Then I went in sites where I would expect spyware and got none. I'm wishing there was a national "stamp out spyware and those who use it" campaign. I'd donate. How about everyone else in here? Do you even check for it? If not, you've got hundreds of spyware programs running on your computer sending out data and stealing all your working memory...

Unfortunately, I think it's a fact of life that we have to live with. I run two different Anti-Spyware programs on my computer, setting them to run on a regular basis. It's the only way I know to balance the freedom of the internet with protection from the scumbags out there who don't seem to understand the concept of privacy.

It's MY computer, and if you want information from it, you need to ask me for it!

Yeah, right...

I use Spybot and Ad-aware SE which seem to do a decent job considering they're free. I don't fully understand the consequences of spyware other than it's bad and can pass your details on in the worst cases. I keep findnig the same offenders such as things called "zedo" and "hitbox" but I've no idea what the are.

Yeah, I run AdAware, and the worthless Windows Defender.

The best thing I ever did for THIS computer was remove America Online and that memory hogging McAfee anti-virus they shill.

I have Spywarebot, Adaware and Norton cleaning programs I run, one after another about three times a night. All catch something that the others miss so I get rid of it all before shutdown.

Have you tried Greenborder? It keeps 'outside programs' from installing on your machine.

I use Window Washer and SpySweeper in tandem. Window Washer cleans out your temp internet files and SpySweeper is a good anti-spyware program...

Do NOT install any toolbar add ons, search features, active X controls, file sharing (limewire etc) software. This stuff is loaded with spyware.

How does it deal with tracking cookies? Those seem to be the only Spyware I get on my system.

Never would do that. You are right about them being loaded with spyware.
