Up in smoke.... - Shot Talk

For those that don't know, I do construction for a living. I specialize in very high end trim work.

We were on this job for several months, Late January thru April and I had been there installing a master bath vanity last Saturday.....here it is...

Massive amounts of site built raised panel wainscoting, coffered ceilings, crown molding and custom trim everywhere.

This morning, it's all gone.

Fire took this baby out last night, nothing left but some parts of the stone front.

No idea yet how the fire started.

The house was not even finished. The family was expecting to move in at the end of the month.

Had that happen to a home in our subdivision just 6 months ago - turned out to be a heater that the mud guys had on the sheet rock. I was sick then at the thought, but after seeing this house which appears to be worth about 8X that of the house I saw I don't think I can even fathom what that would be like. OUCH.

That's really sad for the owners...looking forward to moving in and boom.

It will be an interesting investigation by your local FD and PD. I'd be interested in the cause of the blaze, once it is determined.

I'd place a side bet on either bad wiring or a faulty gas line....

Sling, that house isn't in Pearl River, NY is it? I drive by a house that looks very similar to that one on my way to the golf course.

The ash heap is in Guilford, CT.

There is no gas so that's out. Possible battery charger (faulty) left on overnight by a worker.

Arson is not out of the question.

Holy crap. I work in construction as well and can well imagine how much work was involved in that place by your descriptions.

Did you lose anything of your's you'd left behind

A couple of people did though.
Big old table saw, bench planner, nail guns, various hand tools and such.

Yikes. That looks like a good 1.75 down the toilet. On a good note I guess you'll have work 2yrs. from now when all the insurance is settled and they rebuild, maybe. Hope you got paid already... if not I guess you could come up with that "final bill" which you were "going to send" the day after the fire, you know, the one with the last $22k in materials and $9K in labor.
