Buying a House (again)

Used to own a house right accross from the Rivermoor CC clubhouse in town here and in 1999 spring wife and I split up and sold it. Fall we got back together and have rented a townhouse all these years (stupid I know). (Married 26 years now). I drive 20 miles to work every day because I didn't want to live in Racine where I work (nasty areas you DO NOT go after dark, 80,000 people, high crime areas, gangs, drive by shootings, etc). I wanted to buy a house to retire in up north (in the boonies) but it's too expensive to pay both rent and house payments. So we found a house in the decent part of Racine (after looking at dozens). Aren't many "affordable" houses in decent parts (edge of town, suburbs) and in this area of Wisconsin housing is expensive. But we found one. Modest but perfect neighborhood near the hospital and very "cozy". Now the work comes in. I hate moving....

Get Razor to help you move he can probably carry half the content of your house on his back.
Have you moved any closer to any decent courses?

Actually there's ton's of courses in southeastern Wisconsin, hundreds!! I'm moving away from some I really like but closer to some I really like so just some different "scenery"..

(You're right about Razor but then I'd have to feed him beer for his helping and I don't have that much money...)

It sounds like persistance paid off for you. The wife and I are in the same boat here in the Bay Area; places we can "afford" are in areas that we really wouldn't want to live.

Should've came up here by me WBL you can go far enough north like Klondike or Coleman and hunt on your own land and stuff, although you would need to get a new job. There's a course that we played for our annual fathers day outing it cost us $30 for two people 18holes with a cart. and the course was nice. Congrats on the new house.

We put an offer in on it.... Are approved by two loan companies and working on another. It's pretty much a done deal if they accept our offer.

I didn't think Racine had any good areas? I grew up in Kenosha & relocated north of Madison 2 1/2 years ago. I don't miss either one of those dumpy towns.

That actually is a pretty decent area, a fellow co-worker of mine lives justa couple blocks away from there. he keeps an apartment up here during the week & travels home on weekends. I ask him why he doesn't move up here & he states that he likes his neighborhood.
