This will wrap up ANY Hoing, tournaments or other spending for quite awhile

I've got two AC units, replaced the smaller one last year.

Now in our record-setting heat wave, the big guy has gone out.

This is going to cost several grand I do not have now and thanks to AL GORE, I will not be able to simply replace the parts that are bad. I've got to buy an entire new 5 ton unit with a higher efficiency rating than the one I have now.

I am toast. Melba, burnt, toast with jelly - whatever.

Damn. That sucks royal hind tit.

Then again, think of the clubs you will be able to ho in 25 years when you've finally recouped your money!

I can imagine it. It would be a driver the size of a Volkswagen, and to hit it properly you would have to stand from the top of a tower.

Now is a good time to shoot the wad and convert to a geothermal system.

Costs big money but the recovery time (in saved energy costs) is generally around 5 years.

Is that possible everywhere? I know in Florida we can't dig more than 40 feet down without running into the water table. Seems to me that would preclude an underground thermal container. We can't have basements here for the same reason.

You only need to go down about 4 or 5 feet.

You can also put the coils in the bottom of a pond. Anywhere the temp is a constant 55º (more or less).

A typical horizontal loop will be 400 to 600 feet long per ton of heating and cooling capacity.
Wow! To replace a 5 ton unit would only require 3000' of pipe!

Bravo,

Are they having to replace the entire unit (including the blower and condensor)? Or just the outside unit? If just the outside, that's not too terribly expensive. I need to replace mine with a larger unit, meaning the entire package. I'm figuring around $10k. I'm trying to keep the old one limping along as far as possible.
