serious question

why do you live up north?. I lived in northern Illinois until I was 18,...and then got the hell out of there. Too dang cold, to much winter, too much snow, too many people, too many attitudes......I've been here in Georgia for over 14 years now. I can play golf all year, played 18 on Christmas eve (65 degrees!) 2 hours from the mountains, 2 hours from the beach. Just wondering.....

Ice fishing.

Ok, not really but I was born and raised here. I like the cold and I like to ice fish. You should try hitting a few drives on the ice......that ball won't ever stop until it gets to the other side.

I like the south though but for some reason zillions of southerners come north in the summer.

As much as i'd love to golf all year round without all the rain, i love the seasons. Although I live in one of the few areas in the world that you could golf and ski within 20 minutes of eachother.

BC imo is the best place to live in the world, we have everything in this province. Name it and its here somewhere.

Im willing to give up at most a month on the course here to have everything else. Im an avid (and by avid i mean raced for 10 years and love flying down a mountain at 50mph) skier before i started playing golf, so the northwest is the place for me. Even with that little bit i cant play, ranges are still open as we dont even get that much snow.

(although i do have to put up with a ton of rain, i dont know what playing a tournament in the spring and sun feels like)

ICE HOCKEY!!!!! It's the only reason I can think of to live where perfectly good ponds freeze over during the short days.

They do have leagues for short, fat, old guys don't they?

As much as I love golf and hot summers, I also love the winter.
Ever ripped around corners at 40 mph on a snowmobile or flew down mountains and hit 20ft jumps on a snowboard. Hockey is wicked too. We experience real winter here in eastern Ontario none of that mild wet stuff out in BC . Then again I'd love to go boarding at some of the mountains out West.

You can play hockey anywhere. Everywhere has indoor ice rinks that have league play............If you want to watch hockey, Atlanta has the Thrashers

I dont have a comeback for ice fishing, but who wants to sit on some frozen water and freeze your butts off anyways

Indoor hockey? Do I play golf indoors? Pond hockey is where it's at.

The Thrashers? What kind of name is that? I remember when there was a big contest to name the new Atlanta hockey team, and the winner was The Flames.

I lived in Ohio for 18 years, started attending college in Orlando last year and WILL NEVER GO BACK. I am visiting the parents now, and it is such a depressing thing to be cooped up all day. I plan on moving out to Scottsdale or someplace west upon graduation to be a PGA professional.

My parents are here, I don't have a whole lot of choice at the moment.

However I don't plan on ever living in the states until I'm like..60..and that will only be when it's cold up here.

I agree with everything you say (I escaped Wisconsin in 1977) except for the comment about the "attitudes". I've been all over the country, and I don't care where you go, you'll find people with "attitudes".

It's one of the things that's beginning to bug me about Florida. Too many people like me moving here. And lots of us bring our "attitudes". I think I'll move to Honduras.

And for my Wisconsin friends - I love Wisconsin. I love the people, the landscape, everything - except that it's about 900 miles too far north...
