Explain your elections to me

I know I can use Wiki, but can't be bothered. Last time someone called Chad punched to many holes in a load of ballot papers so your man who won didn't really win, but actually did thanks to his uncle who was in Florida, or something.

Now a bloke called Osama has built some caracasses and on the news they showed a carcass and a load of librarians put there hand in the air so Osama won. But its caused a stir because they weren't librarians at all, they were in fact all radical Christians and they feed people to the lions on Sundays. And they farm a lot which apparently is very important, somone called Hilary should have been more popular to these farmers.

Now I am no Einstein, but I have been to University, but what on earth is going on? Apparently these people who put their hands in the air are only nominating the person who should go on to get beat by the party who cheated last time. (according to a strange man called Michael Moore who keeps coming over here and tellign us the US is all mixed up).

Can someone please explain? Oh and when you win Arnie and all his mates will vote against everything you do anyway.

I think you have summed it up already. Please treat him like a King, a God, or like Einstein during his visit, we would be alot better off and life would be alot less confusing if they could just convince the bastard to stay over there.

Grasping for a word to describe him I would simply grasp at your term FOOL. Has he been able to convince you guys that no one in Europe or Canada really has to wait for health care? I guess he must have got tired of no one listening to him rant and rave about being a sore loser over here. I would say don't fall for it, but if he gains an audience over there maybe he will choose to stay.

This is what happens when people believe everything the Media tells you, and refuses to realize that sections of the media are in fact public interest groups for politicians. He's kinda like the Liberals version of Rush Limbaugh, only he tries to pretend he is open minded and a representative of the entire population and really has no agenda. Then when accused of having an agenda, he points out at all the money he has handed out to divert your attention.

All you really need to know is that the people who have the money elect the politicians who make the laws that help the people who have the money.

Got it?

Excellent, I've got it. I thought it was quite funny watching the news seeing a load of librarians stick their hands in the air, and they did this all over the state, and they then said someone had won? What happens if some people at the back were sticking up 2 arms?

I've watched Bowling For Columbine and was quite taken aback by the free gun given away in the bank, we get piggy banks for students

Moore is a money slut of the first degree....he's made himself rich over telling outright lies and at best half-truths. He's a whore.

As for our elections, Eracer nailed it on the head. Somehow the nation succeeds in spite of its bloated, inefficient governmental machine. I can tell you with confidence that both Britain and Canada have more efficient governments...although bureaucracy is everywhere, we have more redundancy and layers of government than virtually any free market/first world country.

America stays strong because of its private sector and work ethic of the population....the average American works more hours per year than virtually any other country. At the same time, we have what I consider to be the worst federal (central) government of all.....a staggering mess bloated by greed. So Michael Moore is like the Pot Calling the Kettle Black. He's motivated by his pocketbook and is a classic example of Yellow Journalism at its highest form.

To say I am a disaffected voter is a gross understatement.

I find it so funny how so many people believe in the system in the US even though it seems to be greatly flawed...

Makes no sense to me.

Having lived in both the US and Canada, I prefer the US System.

Let me clarify by saying that I prefer the decentralized system in the USA compared to the ultimately centralized system in Canada. Living in the Maritimes in Canada is supremely disadvantageous compared to living somewhere near the federal government (Ontario)

Like Bravo says the USA's strong working class and industry has overcome what some would consider a bloated government model. I can assure you that Canada is no better... sure there is probably less politicians so to speak, but the number of government employees is staggering. Add that to the fact the federal government controls just about everything, and the tax rate is extremely high. If you depend on social programs, or do not have health insurance than I would agree that perhaps Canada is a better place for you.

I would much rather be sick here than at home tho... the quality of health care in Canada is a major concern.

Personally, so far id rather be in Canada, only positive i see down here right now is the golf all year round, but im not even in one of those areas...

Although i dont really pay attention to politics at all, dont think i ever really will. Dont really see a point in it, doesnt seem like the public has much of a say in it anymore imo.

Is that a 13% flat tax? If so, that is fantastic. The graduated system we have is just bullcrap. We are all created equal, but not taxed that way.
