Question Calling all North Carolina members.....

Please tell me what living in the Sanford area is like now. It's been a long friggin time since I got to play in the woods at Ft. Bragg, so I'm sure things have changed some.

A job is open in Sanford. I have yet to apply, so I am soliciting advice. Good or bad place to live? Pinehurst and Pine Needles not too far away, right?
How much for a 1500-1800 square foot house in a nice area?

Thanks y'all.

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.

North Carolina would be a huge improvement over Augusta area I would think. My five years in NC were great. Great place to live.

At that time my sister-in-law lived in Salisbury (just west of Sanford) and it was a nice, old, "Civil War" town with lot's of confederate statues and self-made preachers screaming out their message on the city streets. That was something you never see in Wisconsin...

I love the weather here so far, and apparently all the locals are telling me this time a year (these like past week/next weekish) is the worst of the year!

T'is beautiful.

MCDavis, I will probably be giving up the animal doctor biz, there just isn't any money in it anymore. This would be a guv'mint job.

I'm applying for several USDA jobs in several different towns. I figure I'm bound to get one of them It would be nice to get one where the golf is good.

Well, to answer that question the golf is good here, and great nearby. We've got 3 good, solid courses + Tobacco Road. We're 30 minutes from Pinehurst, 35 minutes from Cary/Raleigh area, 40 minutes from Fayetteville (a few good courses down there), and an hour from Greensboro. If you're willing to drive up to an hour to play, you have a large selection of courses to play. Additionally, it's a 2 hour 45 minute drive to North Myrtle Beach so weekends at the beach are easy.

But seriously, if you want to know about the area let's talk...just easier than posting.

I think you would like the Sanford area just fine. I don't personally know that much about it so, MCDavis is certainly your best bet there. It would be great for you come up here though. I am about an hour and a half or so from Sanford.
