Please Read This Tommorrow (Valentines Day)

My cousin, Steven Luhm is a writer for the Salt Lake City Tribune and wrote an article to be syndicated in most newspapers on Valentine's Day. It is on the ambush that took place on Valentine's Day during the Tet offensive in Viet Nam. And one of the wounded in that ambush and who helped my cousin while writing article is our own sssmokin. Steve did a ton of research on this and it should be excellent. Thanks.

I can't give you a link until it's published. It's an article about Valentine's day and the ambush that occured during the Tet Offensive in Viet Nam many years ago and what those Marines went through on what is supposed to be a joyful day.

It was part of operation Pegasus (directed by Gen. Westmoreland) involved in the relief of Khe Sanh. Check out wiki-pedia for more history of operation Pegasus.

This is what my Cousin said happens after he turns in the story (he said it's already up on the website):

Here's what happens. My bosses got the story from me, prepare it for
our use and and they put on a "budget" of stories available to all
the papers in the Newsmedia chain (Denver Post, L.A. Daily News,
Detroit News, St. Paul Pioneer Press, the Oakland Tribune and some
others. The editors at the other papers see News Media "buget," pick
out stories that intrigue them, read those stories and decide if
their papers want to use it or not. I hope it's written well enough
so some of those editors like the story and will use it -- if not
tomorrow, perhaps on Sunday when the news hole in all papers is
bigger. I will keep track and if I see it used in other papers I will
let you know. That's the process.
I think we are playing it up fairly well. I have told my bosses how
much time we spend on it and how important it is to me. Hopefully,
they will agree.
George, if you forward this to everybody, I just want to thank you
all again for the help. My work on this story has been enlightening
and rewarding. I hope, in your eyes because you are the ones who
matter most, it has been worthy endeavor.

Last good story I read with similar theme was written by a University of Wisconsin alum. "They Marched Into The Sunlight" is a great book give one a true feeling of what was going on ground level during the Vietnam war.

Anxious to read this story.

That is a pretty gripping story. Cudos to sltrib for picking it up. More people need to know about how things were and it is good to see that the people that made the sacrifice are finally getting recognition and respect they deserve. Long overdue. It is just too bad that it has taken 40 years to get the respect that you and your friends deserve, many of whom earned at the expense of their lives. Sling should take great pride to see that hat on your head during such a memorable moment, or any time for that matter.
