New car??? Anybody owned a PT Crusier???

So i've managed to get out of debt and I have a little brass to purchase a new run about! I'm after something a little bit different, then I saw that I can now afford an older Chrysler PT Cruiser. I've loved the looks of these ever since I 1st saw one, kind of remind me of the cars out of 60's style gangster films or the Grave Digger monster truck without the huge wheels. Anybody owned one or know of somebody who has? What do you guys think of them?

I worked with a guy who had the turbo version (srt-4 neon motor) and he was always having to put it in the shop. He drove it like a rental though so that may have something to do with it, lol.

I've been in one a few times. I hate the damn thing. Go on CarSurvey.Org and read reviews of the year/model you're looking to buy. Totally unimpressive to me.

Agreed. Dodge Neon with a different body. My younger brother is a tech, worked for Chrysler, rated them as a "money pit" investment.

Stick with a Japanese car if your going 4cyl.

I drove our rental last year in Seattle. Nothing impressive at all. Not as good as my friend's Vibe which is a bad car in itself.

I had an '88 Prelude. Best car I ever owned.

Ought to be able to find a right drive version in the UK.

While I'm not personally a fan, my folks own two of them (one is the convertible) and they love them. Fwiw, I don't ever recall my folks talking about shop time.
