Our weekend ice fishing trip - Shot Talk

This past weekend my wife and I were able to get away and enjoy the winter. No golf to think about here. My wife, her parents and myself went for a weekend ice fishing trip to a small cabin about 35 miles south of Dryden, Ontario. The only way to and from the cabin is by snow machine, roughly 35 miles each way. Pulling sleds full of gear the trip took about 1.5 hours each way. We crossed 3 lakes, 2 rivers, and 5 different sets of bush trail. The cabin was a small wood heated, no running water, straight out of the wild type of place. We spent the better part of 2 days fishing for lake trout and drinking beer. Thanks to a large front that moved in a day earlier causing a huge drop in barometric pressure, the fishing was slow. I mean real slow. We caught 1 trout between the 4 of us. We did manage to drink 3 cases of beer and an assortment of liqueurs. Its a good thing the mother in law doesnt drink or we would have run out LOL.
Heres some pics, it was a great deal of fun even with the poor fishing. We didnt see another person for nearly 3 days. Talk about remote.

Let's see...your in-laws were there and you had no running water in some small cabin...I'm betting 1 fish and a hangover were ALL you got that weekend!!

Nice. I love ice fishing.

The last time I went, a couple of years ago, we went through 2 cases of beer during the first day, caught quite a few fish but only kept a couple. One of the guys with us caught a 25" walleye that we had mounted (walleyes are pretty uncommon in that particular lake).

The coolest part about that trip was watching a pair of bald eagles who were sitting up in a tree, watching us and our fish laying out on the snow.
