A one-year data set is meaningless.

Maybe, maybe not. Its no less meaningless than looking at the last 20 years and declaring its all Co2 and man. Which of course it isn't proven. Historically, 1 year or 20 are both the same, meaningless, hence why the current uber-certainty of some scientists that ts FACT we are warming up is just plain silly.

Agreed. 100%.

However, that doesn't mitigate our short-sighted, self-centered stupidity as a species.

Agreed.... its clearly a blip, just demonstrates how crazy it is to use data over 20 years to declare absolutely we are suffering man made global warming and we all need to eat grass and keep chickens.

Eating grass would lead to increased methane emissions and hurl us deeper into the morass. Better we just starve to death and leave the planet alone.

Goodness Dave, where did you find all this common sense? I like it.

Indeed, the history of man as a dominant force in the world is nil compared to the history of the Earth itself. Even without human beings, the world managed to warm and cool many, many times; cycles within cycles. However, scare tactics make for good political policy. Global warming! Communism! Gas prices! Terrorists! Some are legitimate, but some, like global warming, are hogwash.

And the one year of data, Eracer, reversed the "warming" that had been taking place over the last several decades. That's why it's significant; that whole one degree.

2012.

That's the end of the Mayan calendar, right?

There's a reason for that you know.
You see, the guy that was working on the calendar was impaled on the end of a Spanish Lance just as he was getting started on 2013.

Haha. Sling, you are so wise. Your comment above about "better to starve and protect the environment!" is actually very good too. Maybe you'd be interested in getting some of these with me...

Great shirt! One of the best I've seen. We all know what drives global warming. It is the same thing that drives everything in this world. It is sad to admit but here goes...money, money, mooooooney.

Rise in internet popularity = less newspapers sold and news watched. Less news read and watched in traditional format = less money for press. Press resorts to scare tactics to increase sales and Global Warming (while it is proven that the environment has taken a hit is difficult to substantiate in our finite minds and time frame) fits the bill nicely. Plus we all "feel" better inside if we act like we care more about the environment than we actually do. In the end nothing will overcome self preservation and in most cases pleasure. So as long as they get us to read more papers and buy more of Al Gore's books we can expect to hear much of the same - global warming.

(I reserve the right to change my opinion at any time, but this is it for now)

If we all wish on our lost eyelashes, our birthdays, and every shooting star we see until then, maybe we can overpower the apolcalypse. It's our only chance. That and prayer!
