The Car & Bike Thread

In Lou of Hijacking ez's post on finding a new car, i thought i would start a thread about our cars and bikes.

Post anything, models you have had, want, will have, pics, questions...etc

Personally i have had a couple in my short driving career:

1. 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier RS. My dad was going to junk it but since i was close to getting my license he kept it around. Car itself was free, but it didnt run, i had to buy an alternator, battery, starter, plugs, and wires for it, put it all on myself before i could drive the dang thing. Put some serious miles on that thing though. Sold to my grandma for 800$

2. 1992 Nissan Sentra - Great little car, 1.6l with a 5speed and got about 42MPG. Bought this car for 800$ cash, was involved in a 4 car rear-ending(not my fault and no real damange, but they still totaled out the car), insurance company cut me a check for 1600$. I fixed the muffler and sold the car later for 800$.

3. 1993 Mercury Cougar - Got this on a great deal from a college student friend of mine that needed cash. 2000$ and it only had 91,000 on the clock with an engine rebuild at 85,000. Put new ball joints in the car and replaced the tires twice so far, with the normal plugs, wires, cap & rotor. Starts every time and gets me where i am going. 150k on it right now and will probably get another 50 at least

g/f's car: 2006 Hyundai Tiburon GT - 2.7l V6 with a stunning power band from about 3500-5000rpm, stiff suspension and its tons of fun in the turns. Really fun car to drive, i am just glad i dont have to make the payments on it I have pics of this somewhere...i will see if i can find them.

WISH LIST/Soon to be

2007-8 Yamaha R6
Subaru Impreza WRX

Dream car: Ferrari 360 Spider...id give my left nut for this car(probably the right one as well).

Cool

Currently driving a '95 LT-1 Vette, 6 speed. Admiral Blue

Used to have a '93 Vette (40th Anniversary) but it got totalled by an 18 wheeler. What a mess that was.

Before this I had a '70 GTO 400ci with a slap stick. Greatest car I ever owned. Kept it for 18 years. Still miss it.

Wish List:
'63 split window Vette
''70 Shelby 500
'70 Mach 1

I tend to drive them until the wheels fall off. In 40 years of driving, I have only owned:

1965 Pontiac LeMans Sports Coupe. Once I swapped the 326 V8 for a 455 V8, it was a demon.

1970 Yamaha R5B. My one and only bike. Hated the 2 stroke sound, but a lot of fun to ride.

1971 240Z. The first year model of the Z car imported to USA. No, I bought it used, and put 150K miles on it. What a great engine: inline 6, 2.4L, 2 side draft carbs, manual choke. A bitch to start in cold weather.

1985 K-5 Blazer. Until the carb became psychotic, a great beast of a 4x4.

2001 Montero Sport 3.5XS 4x4. It's paid for, by God, and it starts every time. Plus I installed a killer audio/video system.

I'll get pics up later but...

1) 1998 Nissan 200SX. My fallback car before the accident this winter, so now just kind of sitting there debating what I want to do with it.

2) 2002 Honda CBR600F4i. The derivition of my name, I love this bike, I've done so much to her too. New sprocket, new weighting, fender eliminator, all kinds of good stuff...

3) 2008 Toyota Corolla S. The new one, fiance and I went halfsies here since the accident, but we got a good settlement since it wasn't our fault. Left us with a payment of 150 (even though we're doing 200), and the settlement being the down payment.

Pics to come later!

I learned to drive in a '93 Blazer with a 350. That was a great vehicle, I wish we never would have gotten rid of it.

When my dad upgraded to a new truck, I drove his old one for a while, a 2002 F-150 with the off road package. That was a great truck, still drive it now and then if I feel expensive (gas).

Now my mom went off and selected me a car. I was looking for a honda or something like that, good on gas, etc. but she went for a kia. 2004 Optima v6. Not real fuel efficient, but with the payments and gas, its still equal to what I payed for gas in the truck. So basically I'm stuck with it, but it goes around corners good. I beat it a little, but it hasn't fallen apart yet.

I drive a shitty old van, anyone want pics?

Seriously though, I have no desire to spend money on a car ever. Vehicles imo are the biggest waste of money on the planet. As long as it starts when I need it to I am good. Looks mean nothing to me at all.

i currently own a 2007 Honda Accord, with V6... i think its pretty fast, but its my first and only car so i dont really have anything to compare it to.

my dream car would be a Lambo Reventon. or any lambo's really.. or a bugatti/masserati.

i saw the sickest lambo the other day, but the weird thing was that on a regular old street it was driving right next to a sky blue masserati. talk about a rich neighborhood lol

I'm with Lyle. I drive a 2001 Mercury Sable with 64,000 miles and don't care if it gets scratched or bumped. And it hauls deer too!

sssmokin, on the other hand, has to have sexy cars like his 2008 Eclipse. He's always worried about scratches etc

A Kia (or Hyundai) is an excellent car and the v-6 will give great mileage too. I bought my daughter a 2003 Sonata that's excellent (after trading off my Elantra).
