Grand Theft Auto IV

Anyone playing this? I spent about 6 hours on my PS3 last night. Easily the best in the series, just a ton of fun.

I have finished GTAIII, and GTASA and i was working on Vice City when i moved and i have not gotten my ps2 setup yet so i havent played in almost 8 months...

I really want to pickup a PS3 and get GTAIV and COD4...too many projects; so little time.

I am so jealous. I've played every single one from number 1 right to Liberty City Stories, I really, really want to buy that one. I've been watching sneak peeks and leaked footage since about the first week of April.

Sorry, to busy playing FF8.

Now you're talkin'. I'll be picking it up for the 360 as soon as I find it used or on sale for the first time. I usually buy games when they are on sale at Best Buy, Circuit City, or used, and not when I necessarily want one to play.

I do love the series, and it looks like this is the first game that Gamespot has given a 10 in about 7 years. This is the link for the 360 and has a video review. They also have the PS3 there as well
Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360 Review - Xbox 360 Grand Theft Auto IV Review

It looks like it is more of a mix from the prior GTA's and a FPS. Right up my alley.

The first GTA bored me to tears. I can't imagine the others are much better.

Walk up to a car, pull the guy out and beat him, drive like a maniac, stop and talk to somebody, beat them up...repeat. Yeah, that's compelling stuff.

They moved on to bigger and better things, like mowing people down with sub-machine guns, and doing wheelies over innocent bystanders with motorcycles. Boats, attack helicopters, My kinda game

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........
About the only (non-simulation/sports) series I really liked were Metal Gear Solid. Solid gameplay, nice mix of stealth, smarts, and BSU (Blowing Shit Up), and characters that made sense in a reasonably deep mission-centric world. Games like Hitman, GTA, etc. get old to me in about 5 minutes.

Whatever gets your amygdala rockin', I guess...

You may want to try out some of the Clancy - Splinter Cell Collection if you haven't, it is mainly stealth. I really like strategy, stealth, and real-time strategy games or even move based like Age of Empires and Civilization. Probably more than FPS and games like GTA, Halo3, or Gears of War. Although the problem with RTS games, is I will sit down on the PC and play them for around 8 hours at a time when I only planned on spending an hour. So I have found that many of the times FPS are much better because I can play for an hour or so. Plus sometimes I just want to BSU. Call of Duty or the other Clancy games are pretty good for FPS, which also has the entire historical side and more strategy.

I don't play video games very often at all, but I loved the entire GTA series. I'll be getting this one in the summer when I have some time.

I just purchased my PS3 through Sonystyle.com ($100 off on the Sony credit card, free shipping) and am waiting for it to arrive.

Once it does, the first game I'll be playing is GTA4. I wasn't able to play San Andreas all that often and never finished it as my kids keep getting older. GTA3 I could play all day while watching them because they didn't understand speach. Same as Vice City.

Now that I have an HDTV I want a Blu-ray player. So the PS3 will fit in nicely. My poor old 360 will only be playing Rockband from now on I guess.

I saw the GTA4 pretrial on Xplay on Monday. The ragdoll physics look just sweet. The car breaking apart also.

I just can't wait for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed but I guess that is coming out around Thanksgiving or something. Looks like GTA4 will have to be my time killer this summer.

I rented Call of Duty (the first one) and really did get into it. They did a great job bringing the tension to life. I haven't tried the Splinter Cell series, but I have a feeling I'd play that one a lot (if I played video games - my PS2 has been quietly vacuuming the air for years now...)

Definitely my favorite game. I might buy a PS3 just so I can play Gran Turismo 5 when it comes out. Although I think the shameless rip-off called "GT5 - Prologue" is so outrageous that I may not not even bother with the real thing. They charge $40 for "Prologue" and it's horribly crippled. You can't even tune the car in the garage, which is one of the best things about Gran Turismo. "Prologue" is a demo disc, nothing more, and they should be ashamed for charging $40 for it.
