Ever seen a lake gone in 2 hours

Lake Delton (265 acres, 200,000,000 gallons of water) breaches a weak spot and drains into the Wisconsin River a couple weeks ago... Took only 2 hours to drain the whole lake.

I hope someone didn't already post this....

And the Root River in Racine flooded and left some golf balls...

And of course kids don't have a clue...

That is devastating. I can't imagine the people watching their house get destroyed like that..

Wow.....Damn!

But when are people going to realize that levees just don't work. You want to live on a "lake?" I got news for you sunshine - that's not a lake. It's an above-ground swimming pool, and someday the side of the pool is going to break.

I feel bad for those people losing their houses. Just as bad as I feel for people who build their houses on the edges of cliffs next to fault lines, on the beach in a hurricane-prone area, or in a 40-year flood zone.

Funny thing is with the lake "gone" there are now more people out on it then there was when it had water. Been boating there & there would be maybe a dozen boats as it's really not a very big lake. Now on weekends there are anywhere from 50-200 people walking all over it. Water is still flowing thru the channel from Mirror lake & that is being redirected to the actual dam. The breech supposedly has to be repaired with the building of a 2nd dam & most likely will be done early next year.

Traffic is definitely down in the Dells this year but I personally feel it has more to do with gas prices, the lake was a very minimal draw & only affects a few of the small resort owners right on the shoreline.
