So far it's only in one state, but what if it's a precedent that other states will follow?

The Governor of Missouri today signed a bill that outlaws cyberbullying, specifically prohibiting the use of computers, texting services, and other electronic devices to send harrassing messages.

What the heck will we talk about?

Thank god you and I aren't from Missouri. We'd both be looking at lengthy prison terms for all the harassment we've tossed each other's way...

So under a strict interpretation of this law an 18 year old breaking up with a 16 yr. old by text message could be charged with a felony. Good intentions I'm sure but damn.

Adam Goldstein, attorney advocate for the Student Press Law Center, said making it criminal to cause emotional distress to a teenager is too broad of a standard. For instance, even breaking off a romantic relationship online could be an intentional act causing emotional distress.

"As the axiom goes, hard cases make bad law, and in this case, very hard cases make very bad laws," Goldstein said.

Yeah, and that's pretty sad. I mean, a 30 year-old guy screwing a 16 year-old girl is wrong, and should be illegal, but a high school senior banging a high school sophomore? C'mon...

Step by step to regulate the internet. I undersetand where they're coming from, like the girl who killed herself because she was "bullied" by a neighbor. But I think if you have citizens doing that, I think you have bigger problems than trying to run the internet.

The only fault you can place, however insensitive, is on the girl. Not necessarily fault anyway, she made her choice.

that teacher student sex stuff is outta control, especially the female teacher/male student stuff. everywhere these days. I knew a guy who did his teacher even. problem was the kid was being homeschooled.
