That was a great video. I'm old enough to remember when in the 70's several car companies came out with big cars with small engines to save gas. Well guess what happened. The cars burned twice as much fuel as a properly powered car because you had to be so far into the throttle just to do the speed limit, thus wasting a lot more fuel! I drive a Jaguar XJR, which is a supercharged V-8. Sure it uses some fuel (and premium, too), but I wouldn't trade it for one of those moon-mobiles, ever!

Driven at full throttle, hybrids are not using the battery exclusively so the gas engine is on just like a normal car. Hybrids make their MPG gains during normal driving conditions, particularly city type driving where thre are frequent stops and starts. Unless you are driving non stop full throttle constantly, the Prius will get you better MPG that the M3.

My dad works with a guy that has a Civic Hybrid. He says that the only time it charges the battery is when he steps on the brakes.
Not sure what that had to do with this but I thought I'd share it anyways.
