Thread: Fay Watch

  1. #1

    Fay Watch

Looks like Fay will impact most of the Florida penisula over the next few days. Fortunately, she doesn't look too big, and shouldn't present too much of a problem for us in Tampa, since she's forecast to pass to the west of us, which will mitigate any potential storm surge issues.

Fay is forecast to pass right over my Mom's house in Ft. Myers, and I'm sure she'll have some fun winds to deal with tomorrow afternoon. Florida houses are built to handle it, but 75 mph winds can still be pretty unnerving.

We'll probably just get some wind and rain here in Tampa, but nothing to get too excited about where I am.

Keep your head down! lol I used to live in Key West, matter of fact I've lived all over the Gulf Coast and Fla and East Coast. Been through these things a lot, problem is they can still spawn tornadoes.

On the other hand, GA and the rest of the south needs the rain to fill the lakes back up.

It's going to run over top of my in-law's and sis-in-law's houses, also. Hope it remains minor.

Yeah I've got family in Ft. Meyers and Tampa..

Hope it's a little storm and fizzles out.

However, regardless of destroying weekend plans and no golf, we need the rain in Georgia..

  6. This one kind of reminds me of Charlie. It has a very similar track and people seem to be taking it very lightly. Charlie jumped up from a low catagory 1 to a 4 in a matter of hours. I don't take these things lightly anymore.

Hope it doesn't ramp up in intensity for you.

Never been in a full blown hurricane but a number of years ago we were visiting my grandparents in St. Petersburg. There was a hurricane which was just starting to come in & my wife & I went to Fort Desoto park to witness a bit of it. We left the next morning & the rain followed us all the way to Atlanta.

  8. This is the first time in 8 years we have not owned a vacation home in Florida. Although I miss the Florida place I don't miss sitting in CT 1300 miles away wondering what my house was going to endure! We were in Kissimmee (central FL) and one year had 4 hurricanes within a month! Good luck to you, Eracer, and all the Floridians. A good friend of mine lives in Lutz, just outside of Tampa, and I'm sure he'll keep me updated. He's actually Paul Azinger's cousin.

Seems like no major issues here. I doubt Tampa will even see much wind, as the storm is tracking more NE right now. My Mom said the wind is blowing the trees around, and there's a fair bit of rain in Ft. Myers, but nothing serious. Folks over in W. Palm are dealing with some tornado activity.

Thanks for all good thoughts, people.
