Ok, let me rain on everyone's parade with some words of wisdom.

If you're using this a commuter, look for maximum mileage. You're throwing money down the drain otherwise, and gas will not continue to drop during the lifetime of the car.

Get a 4 door Civic. Yes, 4 doors.

It might only be you, but if you ever want to give someone a ride or load something in the back, it's a huge PITA. It only makes sense.

Buying a V6 only makes sense if you're towing. Otherwise, 100% useless.

Sure, a car might have better performance, but there's no salvation in getting to work 11 seconds faster at the risk of everyone else around you.

A car should be a reflection of yourself, and your opportunity to help the environment a little at the same time.

Go out a drive the Civic, or the new Corolla. Both get great fuel economy.

Interesting that the Canadian Civic gets 52mpg on the highway versus 36mpg for the US version. Weird.

Get the 350Z Doc!! Now you're talking!!

No, it's not.

If faced with the reality of driving 100 miles round trip everyday, look at the cars that Doc has suggested?

It's a disease that everyone in the Western Worl suffers from. We've had it so good for so long, and now that the shit hits the fan, we want everything to be 1992 all over again.

Sorry, but the days of $1.50/gallon gas are far, far gone.

Here's an idea. Drive all of them and get the one you like best.

Seriously, 100 miles a day is easier on the young guys than us old farts. Comfort has to worth something. I swapped cars with my daughter last time she was home and driving her Mustang sucked for my back. And since you're looking at Acura look at the TL.

It would probably be a good idea to figure out if, whatever you get, would still be affordable with $5 gas because we all know it's headed that way.

Or, you could just get the Miata and then go get your hair braided.

The 400 hp TL?

And I can't get the Miata because I don't have enough hair to braid.

I'll probably end up getting the RSX Type S, or the Civic Si, but the 350Z is in contention if my clubs will fit in the back.

Someone bitter today?

Not everyone Rock. Believe it or not I got the car that was the most sensible. Best gas mileage with room for clubs, and eventually kids.

Cold getting to you or something?

The Si has different seats that the standard Civics. I used to hate Civics until I test drove the Si, its a different car. The wife and I have driven back an forth to Naples and Vero Beach in the car from Orlando with absolutely no comfort problems. I like the Civic so much, I barely drive the Forester much anymore.

Sib, I've said it before. Nissan Altima 2.5/ five speed. 175 horses (enough to have some fun), 34-36 highway if you keep it under 70 mph, around 27 mpg in country/town driving. Plenty of room, I could get 4 golf bags in the trunk. The only city driving I did with it was in NYC. Manhattan at rush hour. 0-55 mph and never higher than 2nd gear. Showed those city boys a thing or two about driving. 24.4 mpg.

Great style, power, room, economy. Everything you want and need.

There is no way I'm getting a 4 door sedan. GF has a 4 door Accord, V6, auto, leather seats. Nice car, but I need something different. I already have the 4 door SUV, V6, that is paid for, and I will keep it for hauling big stuff.

So I need a 2 door sporty coupe for farting around in.

I need to test drive some of the 4 cylinder models to see if they are zippy enough. The 350Z is probably out due to the small storage space, but the Altima, Civic Si, and RSX Type S are still in the running.
