Thread: Winter Hobbies

    Winter Hobbies

Anything out of the ordinary? Besides skiing and golf.

We had a thread like this last year, but we have lots of awesome new members now! Me? I'm still doing my painting thing. Last year I painted up about...200 dollars worth of guys and then sold them for about 600. Wasn't worth the time I put into it, income wise, but enjoyable, played with them a bit, and the money funds some new clubs. In fact, it paid for the FT-i and Studio Select.

Here's some pics, my camera skills still suck though...

LOL, this was my first thought when I saw the thread title. I live in a cold weather snowy state and don't ski, snowboard, hunt, snowmobile or anything that would otherwise involve me being outside when its below 35*.

    SO... two words: Porn-O
Blew up the bag, not sure what's going in next...
    Any suggestions?

  5. Bowling

Usually I bowl on several leagues. I have to take a year off to heal. Last year I guess I developed an ulcer. For some reason it hurts like hell to roll a ball. Feels like getting kicked in the side by a mule.

    Doesn't hurt to golf tho.

The man is so insightful!! rop:

This winter's hobby is quickly becoming 4 wheeling in the Jeep. Went for the first time last weekend, and now we're driving it to the beach for Thanksgiving so we can drive on the beach. Also found a 4 wheel area 30 minutes from our house.

Nothing besides as you mentioned, skiing & golf.
Wonder if I could somehow combine the 2? Devils Head is a ski resort & also a 36 hole golf course.

Ah yes, rifles reminded me that I am supposed to head over to the local gun range sometime next month. Need to clean at least the 9mm before I go though. Haven't shot it in about 4 years & right now the cheap practice ammo wants to jam. Just needs a good cleaning & oiling.

Anyone else like the smell of gun oil?

  11. Don't know if it's qualified as a "hobby", but the SuperScrabble board is back out. Wife and I play lots of SuperScrabble during the winter months. With the larger board and additional tiles, a game takes 2 1/2 hours +/-. The daughters enjoy playing a game, when they're over. However, the grandkids don't allow for the req'd concentration for that long of a game.

Every winter, since I moved out here to Iowa from Californai, I have tried a new Winter project...the first one, about 8 years ago was the bext...dabbled in club making..and now look where we are!

Since ten, I have tried art again( I used to paint alot when I was younger)....then bowling, wood working...all of them didn't hold my interest.

THis year, gonna be working in both the shops again, trying to find gainful emluyment since I was laid off two weeks ago...and work out.

Since May, I've gone from 46% to 28% body fat...gained a lot of muscle and have (according to the trainer) 10 more lbs to lose to attain my optimum weight.

    Oh, and porn of course.
