Thread: Pear Cider or Perry, anyone?

  1. Pear Cider or Perry, anyone?

I must be hitting my mid-life crisis, but I've recently started drinking this stuff.

Magners and Kopparberg are the two favorites, prefer the less sweet former. Anyone else dabble in this potentially female potion? Should I be wearing a pink thong? Or are we living in a metrosexual era?
Doctors say that you should eat 5 pieces of fruit or veg a day to remain healthy. Last week I ate 5 mouldy plums and that night I shat the bed. What's healthy about that?:shocked::shocked:

WTF are you talking about, IG?? Perry? Doesn't he play golf? Magners and Kopparberg? Are they attorneys? You pretty much lost me after "Pear Cider".

As far as the pink thong, that's a fairly personal decision that I really don't want to know any more about! But if you decide to go that way, send eclark some pics...he likes that kind of thing.

    Ssshhhhhssssshhhhh

You North Americans need to widen your horizonss.

    From wiki...

Perry is an alcoholic beverage made of fermented pear juice. It is similar to cider, in that it is made using a similar process and often has a similar alcoholic content, up to 8.5% alcohol by volume. The term Pear Cider is sometimes used, and is equivalent to perry.

Perry has been common for centuries in Britain, particularly the West Country and Wales; and France, especially Normandy and Anjou. As with cider, special pear cultivars are used: in the UK the most commonly used variety of perry pear is the Blakeney Red. They produce fruit that is not of eating quality, but that produces superior perry. Perry pears are higher in tannin and acid than eating or cooking pears, and are generally smaller.

This is my worry. There is a massive (Summer) advertising push on this grog. I know several manly blokes who are now drinking this evil potion.

Fill a large glass with ice, pour it in and drink. Terribly refreshing and super easy to drink too much of it. Its also really strong, 6% or soemthing compared to beer which is ~4.5%.

There must be a helpline somewhere....

For the record, I've been drinking alot of Mojitos this summer. Can't get enough of them. That's pretty girlie, but most of the chicks that drink them are hot.

I'm looking for smoldering eye to eye approval. I've yet to recieve any.

I think both of you should turn in your man cards and start driving convertible VW bugs with flowers in the dash pots.

I don't know. Pear Cider sounds good. I've been hooked on Arizona Arnold Palmer with a shot of gin or vodka. Now that's pretty good.

Look, I didn't kick you that hard, and I believe I saw a spasm of pleasure around the corners of your eyes.

There's an Irish pub close by, that I happened to wander into a time or 12. They've got some of this gawd awful stuff there. I'll stick with a black & tan thank you very much. BTW, when are you coming around these parts, I'll buy you a piece of moldy old dead cow if you teach me how to hit a 3W.
It must be awful to have to work for a living.

    Whoaaaaaa there!!!

Putting coke in Jack is a far more heinous crime - ice and ice alone is what it needs.

Sheesh I nearly choked on my malibu reading that.
