Lottery thoughts....

Well, Western Canada's largest lottery has come and gone, and I am again left with a winless ticket. A laughable $54 million CDN, but enough to keep me and my children and their children happy. And then some.

I my lottery thoughts, I decided that a nice gift for those in my family would be a car. I originally had slated for "conservative" choices for each individual, but soon found myself saying "You did nothing to deserve this money, so make some people happy with it!"

For curiousities's sake, I went with BMW's for the lot. One web page to create a wish list from, less squabbling apon delivery

I have 3 siblings, so things add up. And you can't leave out the in-laws. Plus the brother in law and his wife.

After creating a wish list of:

2006 BMW 325xi Sedan AWD(sister)
2006 BMW 330xi Sedan AWD(brother1)
2006 BMW X3 3.0i AWD(brother2)
2006 BMW 525xi AWD(Dad)
2006 BMW 325xi Touring Wagon, AWD(Bro-in-law + wife)
2006 BMW 530xi Touring Wagon AWD(in laws)
2006 BMW X3 3.0i AWD(Old Lady)
2006 BMW M3 Coupe RWD(me)
2006 Porsche Cayenne Turbo AWD(Me and Old Lady, but mostly me...)

....the final tally came to $737,664.00CDN. SICK!

But, if you have $54 million bucks, what's 3/4 of a mill on automobiles?

I would do that in a second. BWM's may not float everyone's boat, but I bet I could get a killer deal buying a shitload of them from one dealer!

Ah to daydream....

Here in Indiana and other states we have porwer ball. Lat week or the week before that it was up to $240 mil. Got us talking at work. Would you keep working? I say there aint a chance in hell I would ever work another day in my life. If you took the lump payment it came to like $124 mil after taxes. One guy said he would keep working just to keep from getting board. Dumb ass. The one problem i see with giveing every family member cars is how many "family members" would come out of the woods for that.

If I ever won, I'd just spend it on golf lessons. And probably still slice my driver.

If I won big, ie $54M, I'd golf every great course in the world, starting at St. Andrews.

When I was done with my worldwide tour, then I'd spread a little bit around among family members, but not before.

As far as quitting work? I think I'd have to win at least $750,000 to walk.

For me, 3.2 mill is my cutoff for quitting work. Being as I'm only 28, I'd earn more working than I would from interest (assuming interest is 1.5% and not locked into investments).

If I won 54 million, i'd leave work forsure.

If I won 340 million like the New Hampshire lottery last week, I'd shit on my bosses car and throw away my watch. Funny thing is, I like my boss and my watch.

Only 28 you say? Just a youngster.

I'm 51, that's why I'd only need about $750,000.

I think when the woman actually won, it had reached over $300 million, not sure the exact amount. But, I did hear the woman bought the ticket with a stolen credit card, will not win the money, and may end up in jail for awhile. She's also a known drug addict. This was all on the news the other day.

Assuming this is true, how will the folks at the lottery deal with the situation? Will they award the money to the person who really owned the credit card, or will they just say there was no winner and roll the money over to the next session?

If I won $54M I'd set up trust funds my girls and buy them each a new car. Then I'd have no worries about inheritance.

Hadn't thought about how much I'd have to win to quit work but $54M would be automatic. I'd travel alot. I'd play as much golf as my back my would let me and I'd buy an Aston Martin. I'd go shopping with my wife just so I could watch her buy anything she wanted without looking at a price tag.

Oh, and I get Rockford's gf those earings she was looking at the last time she was down.

The thing about Canadian lotteries - we actually get the amount that it says the jackpot is - there is no issue with lump sums AND lottery winnings are "windfalls" and therefore not taxable under Canadian law.

What happens with the lottery winnings, ie capital gains from the winnings will all be taxable, but the actual money itself is not.

So if we win $54M, we win $54M.

Which is actually $45,774,549.13USD, so quit lying.

54 mill, even in Canuck pesos, would be sweet. Then maybe i'd fly out west and have a round or two with Silver. Then we'd go drinking. And then we'd play more golf. Then Silver would get fired. Then he'd tell off his boss. Then we'd drink some more.

Then we'd get really drunk and fly down and tell Dave what we really think of all his Canadian jokes...

"Dave....ye'r a jerk. You make us wanna wretch....you stupid bologna...(crying/sobbing)....I love you Dave....(passes out)...."

Just think, 54 million.....

In the UK a few years ago this guy won 10 Million Pounds, and he's nearly blown it all.

Wouldn't want to live next door to him....

Duff i belive that it would just roll over, because the owner of the credit card had no intention of buying lottery.
