Thread: Prima Donna in the Making....

    Prima Donna in the Making....

I am appalled at this....just because his DAD is famous, the university risks losing 2 mil to appease his sons whims?

Jordan's son may cost UCF millions

A pair of shoes could end up costing the University of Central Florida nearly $2 million a year. UCF promised Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, that he could wear his father's Nike Air Jordan brand for the Knights' basketball team this season. The problem? UCF has an exclusive $1.9 million contract with Adidas that requires all coaches and athletes to use the company's shoes, apparel and game equipment.

Sorry to contact you this way, but I have e-mailed you with no response a couple of times. Could you write back? Thank you.

Now, related to the topic. I'm pretty sure dad will cover the costs. Even Nike will, since it is having free publicity. It's easy to think of a Nike add saying something like "Why settle if you can have something better? Just Do It" or something like that...

Undoubtedly, Nike has been a pioneer in shoe technology, and they really make very good shoes. Unfortunately, in the last years, it seems designers have had the will to please Hip-Hop and Rap singers rather than sport athletes. I used to be a big Nike fan, but they started making the most horrible looking shoes in the world, to the point where I just couldn't wear one pair anymore. Adidas unfortunately has come very close to this approach, and their training shes have become uglier and uglier with time.

Now a days I only buy Merell shoes. Good looking shoes and durable as nothing else in the market. Unfortunately, their prices have been increasing in a way its almost stupid....

    Sorry!

I am actually home today...both wife and her son are down with h1n1...and it's been a nightmare here.

Anyway, I STILL have not received the replacement head/s from them yet...I sent them both an email and call day before yesterday telling them to send me either one to complete the set...but no response.

I will call them again today (between doctor visits) and keep you updated.

Sorry to hear so. Hope everything goes well. Just try to keep them isolated or you'll end up in bed with them, and who would take care of ALL of you?

I think the University is in talks with Adidas to come to a resolution.

However, it is weak. The university is bending over backwards as they want the exposure of an overrated guard with a familar name. If he was joe blow, they'd have him pound salt.

I'd be willing to bet the contract is entirely for that much $$ of athletic wear, not $1.9 million in cash. I have no idea how good the kid is but I'm sure UCF will be making money off his name in turn. If he is good, they'll make a ton off him.

Re: Prima Donna in the Making....

Its a 6 year deal for around 3 million apparently. Nike supplied all the shoes and uniforms for all the sports. Its the last year of a deal that was being renegotiated when all this hit. So I would imagine UCF will be wearing Nike uniforms and shoes next season.

I have never seen him play and know nothing about his game. But you can kinda' get an idea just by know that he is Jordan's son and is playing at UCF. If he was any good, even a shadow of what his dad was at all, he would be at UNC or another big name D1 school-as much for name recognition as for his skill.
Blew up the bag, not sure what's going in next...
    Any suggestions?

I was going to say that but there are other factors. He could be smart as a box of rocks and/or a f-up. Also, if I were the university, I'd need a DNA test, lol. I'm sure there are a lot of "little Jordans" running around, legit and illegit.
