Winter Projects...

Mine is getting my F4i back to tip-top shape. She's had a rough life, and by damned she's comin back out of retirement!

So here she is now, except no side plastics (high side took those off).

And the desired result...

How we'll get there...here's the list...

New Exhaust. I have a 2 Brothers slip-on that is kind of bojangled into staying on. It works, quite well, but I think she deserves a full system. Looking at a Yoshi on eBay.

New plastics, obviously. She hasn't seen her stock colors in over 5 years.

New tires. Found some Pirelli Diablo Supersports for 180 a set, so those'll be those.

Needs a new battery, that's the main concern.

Re-register and license her.

Anything forseeable, she was properly winterized though, so should be okay. Hasn't run in about a year and a half though,

So let's hear about yours!

Re: Winter Projects...

I think he is referring to what a boat is, a hole in the water where you throw money.

Which is my winter project, to get my boat back up and running and restored/modernized. I have to replace the wooden flooring under the carpeting where the cover ripped and let water in. I'll probably have to replace the stringers under the flooring as well. Once that is done I'm going to put new carpeting down, recover the seats that I keep, and build a wrap around seat for the port side. I also have to replace the throttle itself along with the throttle cable. It's gotten stiff and isn't allowing the boat to go all the way into gear. I'm also going to build a swim platform that goes all the way across the stern of the boat to facilitate wakeboarding.

Thanks, and no, me and the fish have this understanding. They hide, and I can't find them. Which is why I bought a ski boat instead of a bass boat. I love to fish, and if I go with an accomplished fisherman I can catch as many as most. I just can't head out on a lake and find the fish.

Re: Winter Projects...

Hehehe. Maybe some day.

I normally don't lake fish, so not too up to speed on boats.

Re: Winter Projects...

My dad and I are building a cedar-strip canoe over the winter. We have the forms set up, and are waiting on the cedar strips to arrive so we can start laying them over the forms.

It's actually come a bit further since I took these pictures; we have the bow and the stern forms up, and we are working on getting the stems (what will eventually become the structure for the bow and stern ends) fitted properly.

The third picture is what it should look like when we're finished.

Re: Winter Projects...

Well, over my summer (your winter) I have a few things planned:
* Build new decking and verandah / patio for my newly purchased house
* Replace gas hot water service with solar powered gas backed service
* Wall mount 42'' Plasma screen TV on rotating arm
* Sand and polish floorboards in living room
* Wall mount dryer in laundry
* Install horizontal timber venetian blinds
* Build cat enclosure
* Put together pool table (just delivered today, YAY!!) to go on aformentioned deck.
* Replace windows
* Paint bathroom, laundry and probably toilet (walls obviously, not toilet itself)
* Paint cube shelving and bookcase to match other furniture
* Install heated towel rack and 4-in-1 unit in bathroom
* Pressure wash roof to remove moss and other crap.

I want all this done by start of March 2010. What do ya reckon my chances are?

my bike?

alright.

she does okay most days, she'll usually gets me all the HP i need. doesn't get the greatest gas mileage though. I've kept most everything stock on her for awhile now, but i've been working on the funds to do a total overhaul sometime soon, as I've been having problems with the fluids getting nasty pretty quickly, might have to flush them and start over.

as for my actual winter projects, I don't really have anything going.

My sister bought her own house and just finished moving out, so I get to turn her room into a gameroom.

We had a futon-bunk bed in the basement that I've already moved upstairs, it should be a mainstay in here as long as I keep Ezra more than 50 feet away from my house.

I've already moved my Tv, Xbox, and stuff in here, and already wired the surround sound.

I ran internet in here, but still need to run the cable in here, I'm also going to work on finding a signal booster to help all of our upstairs TV's.

We have a foosball table in the basement as well, that is covered in clutter, the plan is to get it cleaned off, and move it in here as well.

from there, just some finishing touches such as the John Deere Neon light that I won on ebay, and have headed this way. maybe some awesome posters. thats about it.

Re: Winter Projects...

AFAIK, the only winter project i have is to blow snow off my driveway....

Other than that, play the living **** out of my xbox and work out to attempt not to become a porker over the winter.

Tonight i am going to clean out the gutters(damn leaves) change the oil in the cars, winterize the lawn mower, i already have the snow blower up and running ready for service. The SV is all snug as a bug next to my FIL's XR650R on the trailer, in the heated garage.

I do need to take my 30-06 out one last time to make sure the scope is still on before i take it up north. Plus it needs to be shot about 5 times to get the accuracy back from cleaning. After i shoot it, i won't clean the bore till after deer season.

If i find some extra cash over the winter i will be building a new set of irons...

Re: Winter Projects...

Years ago when young and poor I bought a used bolt action (Springfield '03) military rifle and "sporterized" it over time. Had a new (low profile for scope) bolt welded on, re-blued, re-barrelled, and bought a semi-finished, really pretty marbled walnut stock. I worked on that gun a year and when done it was prettier then most factory rifles. I even hand checkered it. But then stupidly sold it to buy a factory new FN Mauser Supreme action and build a rifle up off of that. That one was even nicer and what a tack hammer.

Now I'm thinking of doing the same thing since I got alot of enjoyment out of that and have some serious time on my hands being retired and soon snowed in. I'd really love to find a Ruger single shot #1 to work on.

I only need one fouling shot on my Ruger 77 Stainless Synthetic .300 Win Mag. and my groups close up tight. I do the same thing as you (you do the same thing as me?) so now I know you are a knowledgeable gun nut and have spent some time on the rifle range..
