Thread: Thanksgiving, any plans?

    Thanksgiving, any plans?

I have 5 days off which is going to be great, no plans to do anything besides going out to eat. My wife & I both hate to cook & none of the family is coming up, so we made plans to hit Essen Haus here in Madison which is supposed to put on a pretty good spread for $15.

Who else has plans? Hell who has no plans?

Going to the NC mountains up near Boone. Sister in law owns a nice mountain house that my wife and I can use. We love going up there. Just the two of us for a few days.

    Essen Haus----should be good

I've got relatives coming from Maine to deer hunt so we will have 2 thanksgiving meals. One early and the official one. May go golfing this weekend too. Weather looks like it may cooperate.

    Re: Thanksgiving, any plans?

Going to the beach with my wife, daughters (Thanksgiving is the only holiday we don't have all 4 kids on the same schedule...boys are with their dad), and my parents for a long weekend. We'll have a big meal Thursday, of course, and just be together. My wife will take her clubs (I keep a set there) and if the weather's nice, we'll play 18. We have a couple who are friends with my parents who'll join us for lunch and bring the homemade desserts. Friday morning will be shopping...I may get dragged out again this year. :real angry:

I actually prefer Thanksgiving over Christmas. It's much more about family and so much less commercialized. Other than the potential golf, I try real hard to make it about the kids and spending time doing stuff they like.

Gonna have the obligatory 2 meals.. Gonna smoke and fry some turkeys again this year. Gonna keep it quiet and fun. Gonna play golf both days I think, might try and get 3 rounds in!

No shopping for me. Black Friday is hell, and aint worth going out for the little coin you save.

I agree, Thanksgiving is more relaxed and I guess it helps that I like to cook.

We'll have a house full and my 6 yr. old grandson has asked if we can put up the tree and decorations while they're here. So we'll be doing that for that for sure.

I'll be frying up a couple of turkeys and making my mom's dumplings. Kind of an odd dish for Thanksgiving but it's become a tradition.

And Rock, we don't have two Christmas dinners. Christmas dinner is beef you Canucklehead.
