Does anyone else find this picture upsetting?

Look at this! One word springs to mind...Haggard!

These guys should have bowed out gracefully years ago, or should they? I know they still rock in terms of sound produced, charisma etc. but can you see them on zimmers and wheerchairs performing on stage in a few years time. These guys must eat make-up!

This is similar to the Seniors Tour. At what point does a senior hang up his clubs. Does one enjoy seeing Snead snag a spectator on the 1st at Augusta? Yes, yes, I know, it's all about tradition, but where does one draw the line?

Nostalgia? Definitely.
Ageism? Possibly.
Entertainment? Doubtful.

Anyone else any views? When does one bow out?

As much as I truly love 'em I DO think their time has past...I saw them in concert in 72, 74 and 88 and when they were on (72 and 88) - they were awesome. In 74 they were so 'stoned' it wasn't worth the money.

Apparently - the true litmus test of whether they are past their welcome - is the buying public. Although I am not tracking their current ticket sales - I can only imagine that concert goers are snapping up the tickets at outrageous prices still...

But anyways, I really wish them all the best...Mick still looks good for his age as does Charlie (who spends the vast majority of his professional time now working in Jazz)...Keith looks like crap and always has...I think the man holds the world record for greatest quantity of smoke entering the human body and still surviving!

Such good memories.

Rock and roll is about angst.

How much angst can you have at 60ish and a billion $ in the bank?

I think it's great that there are musicians that my girls will listen to that are older than me.

A few years ago one of my daughters started telling me about this "fantasic cd" she had just heard and wanted me to listen to it. It was Led Zeppelin. I showed her my two cds and she was a little disapointed.

Same thing happened later with Aerosmith. The best part really is that it gives us something that we can still have in common. Except for rap, I hate rap. It's nothing more than a way for people to become rock stars that cant' sing.

I guess when one of the Stones has to use a walker to get on stage they'll know it's time to quit.
