Thread: Christmas #1 record?

  1. Christmas #1 record?

Kinda hard to know what people round the world will make of this.

    http://www.jcbsong.co.uk/jcbvideo.asp

A JCB is a digger and this song is about a 5 year old's memories of him and his old man. IMHO it is a wonderful and very uplifting song with fantastic animation. I defy anyone not to like it. I reckon it will be #1 at Christmas,

    (Remember to join in...)

    JCB

Well, I’m rumblin’ in this JCB.
I’m 5 years old and my dad’s a giant sitting beside me.
And the engine rattles my bum like berserk
While we’re singin, ‘Don’t forget your shovel if you want to go to work!’

My dad’s probably had a bloody hard day
But he’s been good fun and bubblin and jokin’ away
And the procession of cars stuck behind
are gettin all impatient and angry, but we dont mind.

An’ we’re holdin up the bypass - oh
Me and my dad havin a top laugh - oh woah
Sittin on the toolbox - oh
And I’m so glad I’m not in school, boss
So glad I’m not in school
    Oh no…

And we pull over to let cars past
And pull off again, speedin by the summer green grass
And we’re like giants up here in our big yellow digger
Like zoids, or transformers, or maybe even bigger

And I wanna transform into a Tyrannosaurus Rex!
And eat up all the bullies and the teachers and their pets
And I’ll tell all my mates that my dad’s B.A. Baracus
Only with a JCB and Bruce Lee’s nunchuckas

And We’re holdin up the bypass - oh
Me and my dad havin a top laugh - oh woah
Sittin on the toolbox - oh
And I’m so glad I’m not in school, boss
So glad I’m not in school

And we’re holdin up the bypass - oh oh
Me and my dad havin a top laugh - oh woah
I’m sittin on the toolbox - oh oh
And I’m so glad I’m not in school, Boss
So glad I’m not in school

Said I’m Luke, I’m five, and my dad’s Bruce Lee,
Drives me round in his JCB.
I’m Luke, I’m five, and my dad’s Bruce Lee,
Drives me round in his JCB.
I’m Luke, I’m five, and my dad’s Bruce Lee
Drives me round in his JCB.
I’m Luke, I’m five, and my dad’s Bruce Lee,
    Drives me round

And we’re holdin’ up the bypass - woah
Me and my dad havin a top laugh - oh woah
And I’m sittin on the toolbox - oh
And I’m so glad I’m not in school, Boss
So glad I’m not in school

    Aw, I said

I’m Luke, I’m five, and my dad’s Bruce Lee,
Drives me round in his JCB.
I’m Luke, I’m five, and my dad’s Bruce Lee,
    Drives me round in his

Aw, I’m Luke, I’m five, and my dad’s Bruce Lee,
Drives me round in his JCB.
I’m Luke, I’m five, and my dad’s Bruce Lee,
Drives me round in his JCB

Doctors say that you should eat 5 pieces of fruit or veg a day to remain healthy. Last week I ate 5 mouldy plums and that night I shat the bed. What's healthy about that?:shocked::shocked:

  2. Nah, I recon that "We're not Brazil, we're Northern Ireland" sung by Jackie Fullerton & George Jones for Children in Need will be No 1.

I heard it at the NI v Portugal game, it's very good.

  3. Wink

I first heard this song and saw this clip a couple of months ago and i loved it. It makes me want to be a good Dad to my boy Luke even more than I already did, therefore I'm not going to force him to be a golf professional . A course architect will suffice

  4. Greast article about the JCB Song.

I hope this gets to #1. These guys are the universal underdogs.

Sling, note the clever use of the web to promote this. These guys are a tiny record label. The power of Viral Marketing at it's best.

  5. Geez IG I thought you had more taste than liking this shit!

I can honestly say if this gets number 1, it will be more outrageous than bob the buildier getting it. The first time I heard this record I thought it was a piss take. Awful song awful.

  6. Teh Master, once you've come out of your Juvenile delinquency phase, you will start to learn that there is more to life than Bling, Rap, Beat Box, Porn and Guns.

Agreed the tune is simple, but this is romantic poetry about life. It's a million miles away from Bob the Builder. Too bad your Woofers can't see through this. When you get older, perhaps married with kids, you may be in a better position to start reflecting on life. It's about relationships, bullying, growing up, work-life balance and a whole host of other emotions. The lyrics are fantastic and I also happen to think the video is fantastic animation, appealing to both kids and adults. And the fact that a small indie band can make this much impact without the massive backing of a label shows there is hope for us all.

I know you are young and this is a bit slooowww for you. I can imagine a whole world of teenagers who can't stand this. That's cool. But dissin' it shows you in poor light. I care less in fact that it is now #1. it actually probably does it more disservice.

    Anyway, lets agree to disagree...cool?

'Nuff said that I happen to like it for a number of reasons.
