Christmas in New York!

I would love to spend christmas in New York, there's just something about it, it looks such a beautifal place at xmas, all lit up all the fabulous hotels, and the shopping doesn't sound too bad.

Im definetley going to spend a christmas there some year. Does anyone agree with me?

Does anyone have the fortune to live there and if so is christmas as good as it looks on tv.

Ya, that's what I wanna do, spend Christmas with 25 million other pissed off people.

Cities suck. You gotta go somewhere where you could hit a driver, and have no chance of hitting anyone.

Like the Grand Canyon....

lol I wish it was snowing here.

Northern Ireland is so boring it's ethier like 8* with a bit of sun or just plain rain, nothing exciting ever happens.

Last summer I drove from Phoenix to Denver. Stopped at the Grand Canyon & hit a 9 iron off the edge (SWMBO got pissed). Now where's that "How far do you hit a 9 iron thread?" because that sucker went a loooooong way.

TM:

A year ago, I was in the NY area for a business trip. This was on December 16th - so the Christmas season was in full swing. I had an associate with me who had never been to the city. We were out in Long Island and our hotel was by the LaGuardia airport.

A subway line runs by there and we got on it one night. It was very cold and windy and there was about six inches of snow on the ground. This section of NYC is called Queens and it can be kind of rough in many areas.

I saw on the map that the subway line terminated under Times Square and starting thinking about how cool it would be for him to see the city for the first time coming up the stairs and seeing all of the neon and lights.

We took the subway - it was a 20 minute ride. We got off and walked up, up into the glitter that is Times Square. It was snowing and the streets were filled with shoppers and theatre-goers. His face was just filled with amazement. Later, we walked up to Central Park and saw the Christmas lights which are really beautiful.

While I would not want to live in NYC - I truly love to visit there. It is truly a great, great city and frankly I have found that the natives are usually quite helpful in giving you directions or advice. They will do it in a hurry though!

New Yorkers are used to people coming there from all over the world. As a result, I find that they are more accepting of tourists than almost anywhere I have traveled.

You ain't gonna find any golf though.
