If anyone has to fly somewhere this year, I got a deal for you. I read in my local paper the other day that Wendy’s Restaurant, Coca-Cola, and AirTran teamed up for a promotion. Each soft drink purchased at a participating Wendy’s included a frequent flyer coupon on the cup. 32 cups gets you a one-way ticket to any destination within the Continental United States that AirTran flies. 64 coupons will get you a round trip ticket. 64 cups of soda at Wendy’s will cost you just under $85, versus $800 for a round trip ticket to LA from NY. People got wise to this and saw an opportunity. They were rummaging through trash cans to get the used cups, and also going to the restaurants and buying as many drinks as they could. Now they are selling the coupons on ebay. So if you need cheap airfare, and AirTran flies where you need to go, see if you can swing a deal.
