I lived in El Paso for 10 months. What a crap-hole. If El Paso is a good indication of Texas as a whole, then you have my condolences.

You have my sympathies. I spent a year living in west TX and couldn't wait to move. Lots of dust and lots of wind.

One of these days you'll have to visit the Austin area. Lakes, hills, trees and and golf all year. And Shiner Bock, can't forget the Shiner.

I was at the Naval Air Station at Corpus Christi for 6 weeks during the summer of 1970.

Don't remember too much about it except for the flying, the PT course and the O club. Young, dumb, and full of ****.

I lived in San Antonio for 2.5 years and enjoyed it. I liked the Hispanic culture there where 55% of the residents are of Hispanic descent.

I've traveled the state and agree with DaveE that the Hill Country is the place to be in the Lone Star State...very pretty countryside...Austin is a super place. Other than that there's some pretty ugly country out there otherwise.

Even though I'm from Canada, I voted for "Texan and proud of it".
I was in Dallas in March of 2005 and in Houston in January of 2006 and I think Texas is an awesome place! The people are among the friendliest you'll see anywhere.

And then there's Shiner Bock. Excellent!
