Ribs

Just had a very poor meal whilst out that has really put me off ribs for good, tbh.

I hadn't really come across them before October time too much, to be frank. I had them in Hard Rock Cafe in Barcalona and they were FANTASTIC. I would even go as far as saying that they were one of the best things I have ever tasted !!!

Thing is, though, I have had them a few times since and they have definately NOT been up to standard, most recently tonight. They were firstly not presented well, were greasy, far from tender, and therefore the dish was far from satsifying.

I need reassurance that ribs are GOOD, folks. The ones I got in Hard Rock were awesome. Tender, succulent, juicy ribs that just fell of the bone. I couldn't believe I had not experienced these things elsewhere. Sadly, nowhere else has anywhere near "done it" for me on the ribs front.

Left that restaurant tonight extremely disappointed, as were my mother and father, who obviously sensed the fact that I was getting no satisfaction whatsoever in the meal set in front of me.

Think I'll have to leave it until I go to the States to get a rack of ribs. Where does the best over there ? Texans are amongst the Kings of Ribs, ain't that right ? Defo won't be ordering any round here again, that's for sure.

A depleted Andy

Pork ribs. Stay away from beef if you wanna be a snot like me.

I make killer pork ribs. Greek style, BBQ, salt 'n pepper, you name it. I'm your man when it comes to pork ribs.

I eat ribs at very few places, nothing compares to smoked ribs at home. Out of the places I frequent, I only eat that out at the BBQ places in KC, and I then usually opt for their sandwiches. The other is Mike's American Grill in Fairfax, VA. They are delightful and only 5 minutes off where the Beltway meets 95S in DC towards Richmond. Probably the only Ribs that I recommend out. Do call ahead seating if you go because it is a 1-2 hour wait, unless you do lunch, and worth every minute, they do not take reservations. We call when we leave the hotel or golf course, and they put you on the waiting list, as long as you show up by the time they call your name you are good. We actually plan our DC trips around Mikes, and when we lived closer we would drive the 2-3 hours, eat the ribs, spend the night and come home. Again, it is worth the trip if you are ever close to DC.

Edit 1 - here is the link

and as Rock said, Pork ribs, or Baby Backs are the key

couldn't disagree more with you rock. Nothing beats a good beef rib. Getting all covered in BBQ sauce and looking like Fred Flintstones.

Beef ribs. Not my thing. Pork is so much more sophisticated...

If you're ever in Atlanta, try Fat Matt's. Best I've ever had. You'll have sauce dripping off your ears. Absolutely delicious!

I finally made the perfect ribs tonight

Nothing special as far as it all goes, just perfect timing on the cooking.
