Anyone ever driven up Pikes Peak?

I did once, back in 1982, in a rental car. Poor thing was pinging like mad. That was in May, and it started snowing about halfway up.

This is how it should be done (video, fast connection needed)

Do you know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The porcupine has its' pricks on the outside.

When I was a kid, we drove up there. Not quite like the video, more 3 screaming kids in the back seat.

If you ever get the chance, I would recommend Rocky Mountain National Park. We did that a few years back. The most scenic drive I have seen in my life, and I have been through the entire continental US. I did it in June, it was about 85 down below in Estes Park, I wore shorts and a tee shirt. Up around 14,400 feet it was snowing and there was about 8 feet of snow on the sides in some sections, and it was lightly snowing. Not having any guard rails gets to you in some sections.

No, but I'll be making the 14 mile hike to the summit in early July.

I did ride the cog train up there once and that was cool. Took like 2 hrs each way though.

That reminds me of one of those ride deals with the screen and chairs that move. Looks pretty dangerous. I would put my truck in low 4 and let it idle up there. The thing has so much torque I have to put it in nuetral at stoplights when I'm out plowing, the brakes have trouble holding it back.

Yes! Once on a road trip in an old silverado pick up truck. The thing had really short gearing and sounded like a furnace ready to blow up just before the top.

I did it once in a 20 year old pontiac. going up is bad, coming down is worse . They have a check point where they stop you and check the heat of your brakes,

If Gran Turismo's right, it's called the Suzuki Escudo or something like that. I think it was something like the fastest ever car to drive up it...
