Daly down 50-60 mill...

...due to gambling addiction.

Why does this not surprise me, and why do not care in the least?

John's still great, 60 mill in the hole or not...

Out of curiosity I looked at the Career earnings for John Daly. I almost find it hard to believe he has spent that much on gambling given his Career earnings is $8,776,552. Yes, he has earned lot$ in appearance fees and endorsements, but this seems exaggerated.......maybe a ploy to sell more books??? I still like the guy though

Its like one of the guys on local talk radio said

He might of lost that much, but how much of that was winnings that he lost. If I lay 10 bucks at 20 to 1, win then lose the 200, did I lose 10 or 200? technically I lost 200, but since 190 was house money, I only lost 10 that I had in the first place. Its all a matter of perspective.

No matter how you figure it, it's a lot of money. I like JD, but he needs to realize slots are for suckers, an alcoholic is always an alcoholic, and he does need to lose some weight.

Never been a gambler, except for nickel/dime poker in college; my dad was an alcohic who died when I was 16, but he was an infantryman in WWII (France & Germany) so I figure he was entitled. I have been thin, fat, thin, fat, thin, fat a few times.

Daly's an interesting guy. If this story was about Phil or Tiger people would be trashing them for being wasteful and stupid. Daly says he's blown 50 mil and people just think it's John being John.

I love the part of the article where his plan to deal with his addiction is to play the lower priced slots. Way to go John, that'll work.

Guess it's kind of tough to find a match when you're him. I will definitely be doing some course wagering as soon as I get a little better. I made $50 last 3weeks at online poker. I know I got caught out on a table where the bastards were IMing. My straight (which I had on the turn) got taken out by a river flush on a bet I pushed over $200. Last time I play online for $$.

I just blew $250 on a driver. I can't afford to gamble. JD gets his drivers free.

So, if I sent you a driver, you'd blow $250 on the slots?

I agree - somewhat.

As a role model, he's garbage. Basically white trash with money. Or, at least had money.

But he does alot - ALOT of charity work and is easily one of the most liked guys on Tour.

But I get where you're coming from, VT.

In the same breath I think Tiger is a terrible role model too. I hate to critcize the guy today, but it's true. Swearing uncontrollably, acting like an ass and throwing clubs only gets you so far in my books.

To each their own, of course.

That's what's great about these guys, they're real. I just lost a bit of respect for Daly though. Slot machines??? That's not gambling, just stupidity.
