Whilst we're on the subject of food...

...how do you guys like yer pizza done: thin n' crispy, or a more New York style deep pan ?

In my mind, more and more folk are doing the thin 'n crispy thing these days, although over there in certain States, etc., I'm sure it is different.

Just got a Dominos one half pepperoni passion & t'other half extra cheese, herbs, tandorri chicken & ground beef. Extra garlic & herb dips as well as a garlic pizza bread (delicious !) ordered, too.

Feel free to add any comments about where you like yours from & what you like on yours, etc.

Andy

Actually, New York is the thin style, and Chicago is considered the origin of deep dish style pizza.

I love a good deep dish.

Compared to real pizza, Dominos is pretty much ketchup on cardboard, covered with something that resembles cheese. Not that I'm biased.

A real New York style pizza is the way to go.

New York style, Chicago style, real Italian, cuccina style....who gives a shit.

Good pizza is good food. Fresh mozza and fresh oregano make a pizza. You wouldn't think so, but it's true.

I make a homemade pizza from scratch once a week. I just love them.

Been searching for good pizza since I left my hometown 14 years ago. NY pizza made by a mom and pop style shop is the best though. Chain pizza is crap

Being raised in the pizza deprived rural south, I've always been told how good pizza is in New York. One of these days I'm going to get into the city and the first thing I'm going to have is a "New York" pizza. If it's not every bit as good as y'all make it out to be, I'll shoot the next person that makes that claim!

I've had Chicago style at the original Pizzaria Uno's. It was good, but could've been better. We used to have a couple of local pizzarias that were good, but I kept hearing "not as good as New York!"

Somebody tell me what can possibly make pizza better there?

So NYC pizzas are typically thin-crust, yeah ? Didn't know that.

They are better in one off stores, as opposed to "chain" restaurents such as Pizza Hut...?

The crust. When it's really good I could eat it plain without sauce or cheese. In fact, when I know I'm having real pizza, cheese is the only topping I ever get.

So far we have found three shops in Austin that serve good pizza. Two of the guys are from NY and one is from New Jersey.

I strongly prefer the thin crust NY style. The thick crust style just bloats me out.

I went on a business trip to Philadelphia about a year ago and a street cop took me to his favorite 'traditional Philly pizza joint'. It looked quite that way...not trendy in the least - just an average decor with the red and white checked tablecloths and 3-4 draft beers available.

I told him to order for me and he did.

The Philly pizza is very very thin crust and has a minimum of cheese if you can believe it. Incredibly simple thin crust with a fine tomato sauce and a sprinkling of mozzarella. Of course they had the whole shebang of choices including all of the meats and veggies if you wanted to order them.

An education for me in local style....

Andy... Next time you go to Dominos, you should try the Football Fanatic pizza. It's lovely. Meatballs, sausage, cheese...

Wait, you had Tandori Chcken on your Pizza from Dominos????????? I must apologize for the entire US. We have exported some major crap to the rest of the world as far as food goes.

Pizza comes in many styles and many forms but fresh pizza is the best. Dominos and Pizza Hut couldn't be further from fresh. The best Pizza is by far in NY. Even NY however is hit or miss. Some places just crank out pizza because they can. The Key to NY Pizza is find a place in every neighborhood and remember it.
