Wow! Golfreview.com really sucks right now!!

Thanks to Bravo though for his insightful and intelligent, thought out comments over there, but it seems there are few left over there with any charisma.

By the way, I am rooting for Constantine, the rocker on American Idol tonight...

In hindsight, I guess Dorkman53's little experiment failed over there. Maybe he was late to the game, but I, and many of us, saw the golf forums split from 2 or 3 major players to over 30 or more different forums...

The internet has evolved. Golfreview.com had an infamous reputation that kept it popular...

Now it is sadder than ever. Damn, even Roscoe told Dorkman to kiss his ass... I am sure Dorkman has the best of intentions (we all know he reads here regularly, usually to see what I post, as I am quite the interesting bastard)...

I find it quite strange that Dorkman does not support this site by posting or signing up here... He is in the age group of you guys that started this forum; I would think he would be friendly...

He doesn't get paid at GR, but the way he behaves you would think he has a vested interest in killing GR with the way he has banned Roscoe and Besson...

Yes, the fact is (This is true)... Dorkman banned Besson, and Francis reinstated him. That is the truth. Francis overrode Dorkman's decision to ban Besson.

Francis was right.
Francis was also right when he allowed me back after a spurious banning a year ago.
Francis is being fed lies by somebody that is getting everyone banned over there (this statement is not fact; just my opinion)...

You can call me a jackass, but I ain't lying on this one...

spankdoggie

P.S. Send me a pm for a private explanation if it interests you, but only if it is kept confidential... Francis doesn't view here so I am safe to post this information regarding Besson's last banning at GR.

Rambling because I love you all,

spankdoggie baller with a holler...

sad day this Monday...

It was a sad day at Golfreview.com today.

Classic came in with an invitation, and it looks like Besson has not responded... All that was left of the thread was a couple of 16 year old kids (Kirksey and master) for entertainment... not quite the kind of entertainment that used to be provided by Roscoe (Banned), Besson (Banned by Dorkman, but reinstated by Francois, but the wound still hurts him, I am sure), Omeletpants (Banned), and others...

Dorkman: Your chickens have come home. What are you going to do next? Ban the children?

Shameful state of affairs over there.

And many more are hardly posting, my post count has even gone down a bit.

The demise of GR was inevitable. People just got fed up with the system and either left or couldn't care less.

The spilt between the forums was a good idea, however, it was done with little thought in mind.

After all that has gone on over there, it eventually will end up being Fred3, Monty and Roscoe, just how they liked it.

Congrats boys, well done. You have what you wanted now, I don't want to hear anymore complaining.

I still read once in a while, but it takes everything in me to post over there now. I prefer a community where people care about others. I mean, even Spank is normal (sorta) here. Now what is that saying?

You can have GR, Master. I think i'll stick around here and not have to worry about all that other garbage.

Hmm, read my post I said it was getting boring and my post count was going down, who said anything about wanting it or loving it? I didn't!

I have been posting and viewing here 3 times as much as GR as of late, and as they days go by it is getting boring!

From your post i read into that you were still an avid poster. If not, I apologize, although I wasn't specifically aiming my comments at you. You just happened to be the last poster on this thread.

No worries, A.

What made GR good was it's entertainment value. Sure there was always some good golf stuff thrown in, but it was the flame wars and unique threads, (Roscekast, etc.) that made it interesting.

With the recent bannings most of that is gone. For me at least, what we have here is better.

Agreed. But then out of the blue someone or a group of someone's wanted total control.

The thing was it was years too late.

And this is the result.

GR of old is a thing of the past. It'll never get back to where it once was, I'm afraid to say.

Guys, from someone who was there at the beginning with Besson and Roscoe I can kind of tell you what has happened recently. Everything that has recently happened has been a result of Dorkman's (internet name on GR) interference recently. He is a man in his mid-fifties who likes to golf.

I don't think he has any idea that Francis Cebedo hates golf.

Recently, Dorkman53 has gone into hiding by hiding his identity. This means that any golfer that shows up to see if his friend, Dorkman53, for example, is at GR won't be able to see him.

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE THAT I HAVE SEEN A MODERATOR HIDE!!!!

I capitalized the above, because I find the behavior extremely strange.

But you all must believe me on this: Francis (aka "Francois) is not the root of these problems. Maybe some of you could email him at fcebedo@consumerreview.com and post some inquiries on why all the oldies got banned.

He has been told lies, and perhaps your voices can help solve that problem. Remember Lord of the Rings? Remember that old king that was being controlled by that bastard that was whispering in his ear and telling him what to believe? Once the spell was broken he was free.

Right now Francis Cebedo is that old king. Send him an email. Ask him why all the regulars were banned.

He hates golf, but there is a symbiotic relationship between quite a few golf forums... It is sad to see GR die like that... I blame Dorkman and I think he is also embarrassed of his recent actions by hiding his identity over there, unfortunately...

rambling but true,

spankdoggie

Sounds like a good idea emailing him. But I have been told before that those people will never be back at GR.

And I think buddha hides there and he is a mod.

It is not what it was in late 2004.

Here is a little information about the founder of GR. He started the forums up because he loves mountain biking.

http://www.mtbr.com/author/aboutfrancis.shtml

About 2 and a half years ago, I was there when consumerreview.com, owner of golfreview.com went bankrupt: http://www.bustedspoke.com/newsMore.php?nk=1017

$18,000,000 in debt, guys...

Anyways, they retained Francis to work there, and the mountain bike forum is bigger than ever. Unfortunately, I was recently banned from the road bike forum, and I had not even posted there in 2 weeks. I was banned by Francis.

I blame Dorkman. Nothing happens in a vacuum. Oh well, big deal; I own a Serotta, and I post at their forum that is 10 times bigger and more entertaining anyway...

Here is another article about the founder of GR: he doesn't even mention golf in this article. http://www.e-centives.com/pr_news/2004/mb_0404.html

Rambling,

Very interesting. I thought that francois was the co owner of consumer review? He seems like a very nice guy.

How much would he get paid for managing the boards etc... spanky?

He is the founder. Maybe co-owner after that. Then bankruptcy. Sold it.

He is being retained by the new owners to help run it.

I don't know his salary, and I don't care.

I do know that for years when ever anyone said the F word, I would send him an email and he would thank me and delete it. He would also delete porn when I emailed him.

He had no interest in the site, but thanked me always when I emailed him that there was a problem. The email address above is the one that I would send my concerns to.

That is all.

Then out of the blue, everyone, including me started getting banned; it started with Dorkman, from my observation. Here I had years of emailing Francis, and it all seemed to disappear overnight. Very strange.

Still trying to figure it out...

Now...

That is all.

I imagine it to be fairly good, it is probably one of the biggest boards around with easy over 1000 members visiting each day and over 1000 guests it has to have some sort of outcome with really good top sponsors.

They probably didn't mention GR because if anynoe came to read our posts they would probably be shocked lol....

Sorry dude. Perhaps the fact that F doesn't like golf was what compounded this problem in the first place.

Roscoe is gone and moved on. Besson will never be the same. You'll never get anyone to mod there anymore for fear of being labelled. People wanted me to mod there, but why? So I could have everyone tip toe around me?

No thanks.

I'll take my business elsewhere. He had the chance to come out and make the site a great place to be, but instead he gave it almost no attention.

The only one that suffers here is F. I don't like the idea of that, but he really made his bed, so now sleep in it.

No offense to anyone, but that's really what this is about.

GR may grow if it has the right direction. However, it will fizzle away until one day it is just up and gone. And who will suffer because of it? No one. Sorry to say it, but it's true. History is all well and good, but it's a "what have you done for me lately" crowd.
