  2. WTF?
There's no fish story to go with that?
    Pike.....or Muskie?
There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Rock - you have to tell me where this was taken.

Also we are planning our next trip - I'll keep you posted - maybe a little golf in Regina along the way?!

This was caught in Southern Ontario, to be honest. But, it equals the provincial record for weight at 44lbs. 54" length is pretty impressive.

It's a Northern Pike, Sling. You Yankees come up here to catch these elusive creatures.

Wanna know how to catch a pike? Get the loudest kids toy you can find and tie a hook to it. Then, throw it into any body of water in Saskatchewan. When the line feels tough to reel in, set the hook. Now reel in the pike.

We generally go around the end of September - however we've drug our feet this year so everyone is still juggling schedules. I'll let you know. We go often enough that we'll make it happen!

  9. Well we get Muskies that size up in Wisconsin. I've hooked a Musky (bass fishing) about 30 lbs. and had him on the line for about 20 seconds before he broke my 12 lb. test. The old heart was thumping though for awhile. We've had them go under our boat (muskies) that size but never could imagine a Pike getting that big.....

  11. There are always stories of kids or adults sitting on piers in northern Wisconsin splashing their feet in the water and getting nailed and tore up by a Musky. Then the "animals can do no wrong" group said those stories were all made up etc etc.

Well, a couple years ago they had pics of a kid who had his legs mangled by a musky attacking him. If they'll go after a noisy toy or lure 'cause it p***es them off, they'll go after splashing legs!!

Not quite as serious as sharks though, LOL..

    You don't eat Pike.

I don't care what anyone says, because if there's Pike, there's yellow perch and walleye, which are 1,000,000 times better eating that those snot rockets.

    Just sick.

We call them "lake snakes" - they are greasy little suckers and have an extra "y bone" that is a pain to deal with. I ate one, just to say I did, and it doesn't hold a candle to walleye.

Apparently, if you boil them in super salty water, they taste like lobster.

Hell, if you put enough ketchup on your boot, it still tastes like a boot covered in ketchup.

No thanks. Way too slimey and they taste rotten. I prefer a more civilized fish, like walley, sauger or lake trout. They at least don't make me want to lick the ass of my dog to get the flavour out of my mouth.
