Calling all avid Gun owners if there are any

An indoor shooting range just opened up here and I have always wanted to buy a handgun and now I have a good place to go so...

What I'm interested in is a semi-auto 9mm possibly a beretta. Just wondering if anyone here knows what would be a good price for one of these both new and used, also what do the bullets for this type of gun generally run in price?

Note that I don't have much handgun experience. Are used handguns usually pretty reliable or is it best just to go new. Any other info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rosmo

Forget the 9mm, there is no stopping power, a .38 special is better if not quite as sexy. If you really want a handgun get yourself a Sig Sauer semi auto .357, that will stop just about everything short of an elephant. Unless of course you are looking for a gun just to have a handgun, then just get a .22.

oh yeah, i have seen the Sig Sauer for as low aas $400 used and in good condition, new i would imagine about 8-900. For a beretta maybe a little more due to the name and sexiness of the weapon. That being said you may be able to find a better price elsewhere.

Six for sure

or a K.I.S.S. with a 1911, for the budding shootists

use heavier hollows, 158s or 230s

I don't think there is anything wrong with having a 9mm semi. I have a Ruger that I like. You just have to pump a few more rounds into your target to makle sure they are good and dead. That's why the semis have such large capacity magazines.

My next will be a .45 semi. I fired expert with that bad boy a long time ago.

yeah, but the Sig Sauer .357 had a 15 shot clip and was semi-auto. If you can still feel your arm after shoot 15 shots with that you are a better man than me. I plan on a .45 as well...

LOL! My arm would probably fall off. It was a long time ago that I last shot a .45.

Here's a funny. One of the collge students who works for me part-time bought a semi-auto for home protection. She's about 5'6" and 115 pounds. Naturally she bought a .45. One day I'm gonna talk her into going to the range with me.

So that's what you kids are calling it now a days.

For me, I've quite the collection of paintball, airsoft, and squirt guns. Never bought an actual one though, will someday.

I just called her up; she still has her .45 but hasn't fired it in a while, so we're gonna set up a day to go to the range. I'll take my camera. She's cute.

This is the most redneck thread I've ever read.

There is abolsutely no need for semi or automatic weapons for a civilian. NONE.

Rock, with all due respect, you don't live in the USA. A semi-automatic handgun is perfectly legal as long as you are not a felon, and many of us have carry permits; some even have concealed weapon permits.

Now I rarely carry in public, but there is NO WAY that I will ever live without at least one handgun in my house. One in every room would be preferable.
Home invasions are way too common to be without one.

.45 would be a good fit, or the 9mm.

have fun, but more importantly, be careful....

I live in Canada, where they are illegal. Home invasions are very rare, probably much less than in the States.

Now, how is this not wrong again?
