New to forum, not new to golf..

Hi everyone. New to the forum here and it seems like a very cool place to hang out and talk all things golf related.

I'm in my mid-40's and an electronics consultant. I do custom electronic product design for a living mostly medical and industrial electronic products. Being self-employed, I get to golf during the week and leave the weekends to the masses at the area public courses.

I played a lot of competitive golf in high school and college and had my handicap index down around 3 for a several year stretch then. It's gradually risen to the 13-ish range now but I love the game and want to play as long as my body and mind will let me.

I mostly play just for fun and business outings now but I've made a commitment this year to play a lot more. I'm also helping my best friend and his wife get started in the game. So far, they like it a lot and aren't too bad for beginners!

I'm a tinkerer and build, modify and repair quite a few clubs. I find it relaxing and fun and there's nothing better than beating one of my golf buddies with a set of sticks I made that cost 1/4 of what his did.

I'm not quite a full-fledged club ho yet, but I'm well on my way...

I recognize a few of the members here from another site and reading some of the threads I think this will be a fun place to hang out and talk golf!

Welcome! Where did you go to college?

One thing to remember around here, if the post count is high and it isn't Cypress, just move on.

University of Kansas for undergrad. I was trying to decide between sports, music and enginering as a career at the time and engineering won out. The hours I had to spend actually studying kind of cut my competitive career short.

Probably the best for me in the long run as I like what I do for a living a lot. Since then golf and music have been more of a hobby and for relaxation and fun.

I still play the same course the KU golf team plays (Alvamar) occasionally, it's only about 20 miles from me. It's a great course and challenging from all the tees. They also have near-PGA tour quality greens -- large, lots of "slope" and character and above all fast.

If any of the ST members get to the Kansas City or Lawrence area I'd highly recommend it. It's usually not too hard to get on and reasonably priced.
